    We stayed one night at the Captain Cook Inn and throughly enjoyed it. The staff were fabulous, the food great (amazing cooked breakfast and some of the best black pudding I've had!). This is vey much a local pub and the locals were friendly and chatty. I think it's fair to say the rooms are basic, but if, like us, you're only sleeping in them, so what? They have everything you need and it's all clean.

    I booked the hotel for the arts festival, for two nights. I do feel I should’ve been told about the live music on the Saturday night, which carried on until 11:30 pm: I couldn’t even use the TV in the room to mask some of the noise – I had told the staff at breakfast on Saturday morning that the remote wouldn’t turn the TV on and that I thought it would probably need new batteries. I was told this will be sorted but it obviously wasn’t as I was unable to use it on Saturday night either. Very frustrating. I was in Staithes running a gallery for weekend, which is fairly tiring,& a decent night’s sleep would have helped, as would a reasonable bed: mine was extremely lumpy and not at all comfortable on one side. It, along with the rest of the room, is well overdue for refreshing. On the plus side, the food at breakfast was excellent, as is the location.
