What an amazing find. Tucked away on the edge of the village, Edgcott house is the perfect weekend bed and breakfast get away. Penny and Simon, your hosts, welcome you into their exquisite home like old friends. The house is spotlessly clean, warm and inviting, everything you could want in such elegant comfort. The whole feel of the place is just so refined but homely. My wife and I had had a stressful day before we arrived because of car issues but once there we just relaxed into the peace and quiet. So much so that we stayed an extra night. Breakfast was a real treat and you know that cooking is a passion in the house by the bookcase full of cookery books in the hallway. No half measures here with copious use of local ingredients and home grown produce. Penny successfully reminded me how much I like rhubarb for breakfast! We cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough and we were even able to take our dog. We shall return again.

We always include a stopover at Edgcott House when holidaying in Cornwall because it is so good. Always made to feel welcome and it is the extra touches which make a difference. Homemade cake and fresh milk in our room on arrival. Quality bathroom toiletries. A good nenu for breakfast, including local produce and home cooked fruit is always delicious. This time it was greengages. Very comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend.

This was an excellent choice for our two day stay in Exmoor. The property is not only situated in an easy to reach beautiful area, it’s a fabulous property throughout and is spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were truly magnificent and the homemade cake in the room was very much appreciated together with the bottled water, tea and coffee. I would definitely recommend Edgcott House to friends and family.

Wonderful country house in the heart of Exmoor National Park. A charming character home with beautiful English garden in the quiet countryside near village of Exford. The generous breakfasts were gourmet, served in style in a lovely main room facing the garden. Local pub (the Crown) good for food but take a torch! Our son loved seeing what dark is really like when we turned off the torches on the cloudy walk back! We had a lovely stay here! Quaint and cozy but pristinely clean with an updated feel. The bedroom was small but comfortable, with strong wifi and the bathroom had a big tub, which was great for a hot relaxing bath (thoroughly enjoyed that!!!) and the shower was nice too. The breakfast was perfect - lots of cereals, yogurt, juices, tea/coffee, a basket full of toast per couple and a long list of menu options for your made to order meal that looked like they came from a gourmet magazine. Even though the home is older and all rooms were booked we didn’t hear a peep from anyone or anything all night, which you definitely don’t get in the modern chain hotels. the area is quiet but there are a couple of restaurants in town. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the area!

Edgcott House was the loveliest B&B in which we have stayed. The grounds are beautiful, the food incredible, and it is near so many scenic walks. We did have a bit of trouble finding the place. (Sat Nav had issues navigating us there from Minehead direction. Best to follow the directions that the owners give from the south.) We hope to stay here again on a return trip to the U.K.

Lovely night away - Edgcott House was warm and comfortable with superb attention to detail. Having stayed at several B&B’s in Exford in recent years I can honestly say that this is definitely the best!!

I was in the area gathering data for my PhD, so needed a place to stay for the night. Knowing that Exford is a lovely spot right in the middle of the national park, I chose that as a base. Edgcott House is set a little way outside the main village of Exford, but still close enough that you could walk down to the shop if needed. I didn't see a huge amount of the grounds of the hotel, as I only really slept there and ate breakfast, however what I did see looked lovey and well kept. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom and plenty of towels (always important!). Wifi access was also very good, and the addition of cake being included in the refreshments in the room was very welcome! The breakfast was delicious, and prepared fresh, with a made-to-order hot food menu. One note - all the guests eat around one large table. I didn't mind this at all, but it might be something that those who prefer to sit alone quietly and slowly wake up over breakfast might want to bear in mind! That said, I met a lovely group of retired dairy farmers from Hampshire. The owner is very friendly, and takes care to get to know his guests. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
