The staff were friendly and kind and they make effort to communicate with us in English. Food served were their local Japanese cuisine and they were delicious.

Staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. They also provide a shuttle bus to pick you up at the Miyajima Island entrance. As well as taking care of your luggage. The hotel is also conveniently placed a short walk away from all of the Shops and Restaurants. With a wonderful view of the Itsukushina Shrine and Torii gate. If you are looking for a Traditional Japanese stay on Miyajima Island I highly recommend it. Coming from someone who personally works in Japan.

Remarks: If you have a few days in Japan before checking in, and if you have a Japan mobile number, it would be ideal to call ahead to request for a bus transfer from the ferry terminal to the hotel.

We stayed here for one night and I had barely anything to eat. We chose this hotel because they assured me several months ago that they could accommodate my food allergies (no gluten, onion or garlic). Unfortunately, at the start of the multi course dinner on our arrival, it became clear they had ignored my allergies and repeatedly served me dishes with obvious onion. This made me really nervous that they had also disregarded my gluten allergy, a far more serious mistake that could lead to the end of my trip. By the second course, I had to sheepishly ask three separate times if it was safe for me and I was assured "No onion. No gluten. No soy sauce" and then promptly stirred up onion in my soup. At this lovely, expensive, well known hotel I was told to "pick it out myself". We ended the meal (course 2 of 10ish) and I ate peanuts in my room for dinner. Unfortunately, the "western style" breakfast this morning was no better. Multiple items were served with BOTH gluten and onion. I simply could not trust anything they served me. To top it off, I was charged EXTRA for the hotel to accommodate my allergies. There was never an offer to refund this fee and no mention was made at check out. Really frustrating in a town with little other options. The hotel itself is in a beautiful location and the room was very spacious. However, the facilities were very worn (scuffs on the walls, carpet in terrible condition, thread bare towels) and not up to expectations either.
