    We reserved two rooms, both of which came with two free breakfasts. However when we arrived, we were informed that hotel policy only allows the covered breakfasts to apply to adults. While children's breakfasts are half of the adult price, they are still incredibly expensive for what you get, costing almost 2400 yen per child per day. It also costs extra money to use the pool, 3300 yen per person per day, and children are not allowed without a paying adult to accompany them. The mattresses are hard, which I've found common in Japan, but still unpleasant. The pillows look luxurious until you put your head on them and they flatten to the thickness of a pancake. We originally reserved one grand room so we'd have space to spread out, then reserved another grand room on the recommendation of a staffer who told us that was the only way to get a second room near the grand room we'd originally reserved. While there, though, I saw that there were standard rooms across the hall, so we could have gotten the extra beds without spending money on extra space we didn't need. Also, the grand rooms did not get cold enough at night. I turned the temperature down to 18 Celsius in both rooms, the coldest it would go, and I turned the fan on high. But in both rooms, the temperature only went down to 22 degrees. So for an entire week, the four of us slept on hard mattresses with barely-there pillows in hot rooms, and we didn't even have a great location to make up for it - while there is a train station in front of the hotel, it is just a short extension off of one of the bigger lines. We always had to walk 15-20 minutes to go to different stations on different lines to get to the main attractions in Osaka; it would take much longer to get there if we used the station in front of the hotel because it goes out of the way before going back to any of the major attractions. The only upside of the stay was that the breakfast had enough selection to satisfy all four of us for a few hours.

    Husband and I booked 5 nights in RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, it was not easy looking for the free shuttle point given Osaka station is a huge one but we made it and the remaining stay to the shuttle point was easy. Upon check-in we were told to pay a daily charge of S$* per day stay for something which the hotel said it is their policy to collect and also said it was common to some other hotels. Another lone male guest by my side also questioned the payment he too said no other hotel practice this. We paid it since it was the hotel's policy. Overall, the hotel staff was very good and helpful; hotel room was clean, hotel lobby was large and very impressive with nice open sitting area. A convenient store in the basement with some food outlets and luxury shops, came great. I do hope that the hotel or IHG group helps me understand about the extra hotel charge on check- in.

    We had a great stay at RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, Vignette Collection. The hotel is large, beautiful, and offers a premium atmosphere. Our room was spacious and very comfortable for a family of four, with plenty of space to relax. The high-floor view was impressive. One of the highlights was that the hotel is located right above the station on the train route from Kyoto to Osaka, making arrival very easy. However, if you plan to visit the Namba area, you will need to walk or take the hotel's free shuttle bus to another nearby station. The only downside was that the swimming pool required an additional fee, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, a wonderful hotel and a great choice for families.
