    I had a really enjoyable stay at The Chequers Hotel. It’s a charming and welcoming place, perfectly located for visiting the surrounding area, especially if you’re exploring nearby Downton Abbey filming locations. The hotel has a cosy, traditional feel while still being comfortable and well-kept. My room was clean and pleasant, and I had a good night’s rest. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a lovely and convenient base for a short stay – I would happily return again.

    Stayed at The Chequers for a couple of days whilst attending an event at the race course. Staff are great especially the guy in the bar/restaurant, couldn't do enough for you. Room are a little basic but fine and clean so no complaints given the value of the hotel. Would definitely stay there again if I needed to be in Newbury

    This is our second stay. Love like the hotel and it is very central which is just what we wanted. Staff are nice and food was tasty. Our room was not as nice as our first stay and our room was quite dusty and the shower was weak. However, breakfast was good.
