    Unacceptable 300 Baht Charge for a Lost Hotel Key Card I have stayed in many hotels around the world, and this is the first time I have been charged 300 baht simply for losing a hotel room key card. I find this policy very disappointing and unreasonable. A standard hotel key card is a simple reusable/reprogrammable card. In many hotels, guests are even asked to drop their key cards into a box at reception when checking out. I can understand a reasonable replacement charge if a card is lost, but 300 baht for an ordinary room key card feels excessive and completely out of proportion to the actual item being replaced. What makes it more frustrating is that I do not recall this charge being clearly highlighted to me when I checked in. If a hotel intends to impose such a relatively high penalty for losing a key card, it should be communicated clearly and transparently to guests in advance. The stay itself may have its positive points, but this experience left a very negative impression at checkout. For a hotel in Thonglor serving international travellers, I believe this policy should be reviewed. It is not about the 300 baht — it is about whether the charge feels fair and reasonable to the guest.

    We loved the flexible breakfast hours, which extended until 2 PM. From 11 AM to 2 PM, breakfast shifted to an à la carte selection—a thoughtful and much-appreciated arrangement, especially for guests who aren’t used to waking up early for breakfast. The room was generously sized, and we particularly appreciated the speaker option. For those of us who enjoy listening to our own playlists, it added a nice sense of familiarity and made the hotel feel a little more like an extension of home. Housekeeping was generally great, although there were a few minor lapses. The toilet water appeared somewhat yellowish at times—possibly due to the fixture itself—but it was something we only noticed later and felt could use a closer inspection or more thorough cleaning. The hallway from the elevator leading to the rooms also had an unusual smell, possibly coming from maybe the carpets or one of the nearby rooms, though we couldn’t quite tell (maybe of weed, we’re not sure). Lastly, the complimentary shuttle to the BTS station was very helpful, as the hotel is located a bit inward and not particularly convenient to reach on foot. Overall, we appreciated the thoughtful touches and comfort of the stay, with just a few areas that could benefit from more attention.

    What makes this even more disappointing is what happened on the very first day of my stay. I was assigned Room 501, but when I first went up to the room, the key card given to me could not open the door. I had to go all the way back down to reception to ask for assistance. A staff member changed the card and came upstairs with me, but the new card still could not open Room 501. Eventually, the staff had to use their own card to let me into the room. I then had to wait inside while they tried to fix or test the electronic door lock. At first, I was told that I might need to change rooms, but later the staff brought equipment to test the door and spent around 15–20 minutes resolving the issue. Because there were multiple cards being changed and handled during this process, I honestly cannot even remember clearly whether I eventually received one card or two. I was patient and understanding when the hotel had a problem with its own door and key-card system. I did not complain about having to go back downstairs, having to wait, or spending part of my check-in time dealing with the hotel’s technical issue. So at checkout, to simply tell me that one key card was missing and charge me 300 baht feels particularly unfair. When the hotel made a mistake, I was willing to wait and understand. But when there was uncertainty over one inexpensive key card, the hotel immediately charged the guest 300 baht. For me, it is not about the 300 baht. It is about fairness, reasonable customer service, and how a hotel chooses to treat its guests.
