    It’s an old hotel that’s been in the business for quite sometime. The location is great and the room okay - the room was not cleaned properly. It has bits of food on the ground and the balcony was horrible. The chairs were so dirty and the table had a spill and was left just as it was. The breakfast buffet was good, highly recommended. The staff at the reception when told about the dirty room didn’t even know how to react. Will not be staying here again

    We stayed for two nights. The pool area is lovely, the food is fine. The rooms are tired, not clean and we had issues with 3 of them. Room 219 was not clean, black mold in the shower, toilet stained, mirrors and surfaces not wiped down. The mattress was so hard we asked to move rooms. Room 105 had a new mattress but the seal around the base of the toilet leaked and it smelt strongly of urine. Room 306 is a more recently renovated room however there is a diesel generator on the third floor. When you turn on the light in the bathroom the fan automatically turns on and sucks the dispel fumes into the bathroom. The CEO of the hotel was around but is not managing the hotel or staff well. There is only one bedside table in 2 of the three rooms. Only 1 of 3 rooms had a tv. It took 3 hours to get an iron delivered and then it did not come with an ironing board. When I asked for one they sent up a broken one. It is tied and dated and the staff need to do better job of cleaning. Note that they have up to two weddings a day. They are beautiful to see but they can start with loud drumming and music at 8 am and other guests complained of the noise at night. We did not hear any noise from 219 or 305. The music at the pool was interesting. They had a loop of 5 songs, two of which were local versions of “Old MacDonald had a farm.” Overall we do not feel the value is there for the money and would not recommend this place. The rooms are two star, not 4 star accommodations. Coming from Colombo and staying at the Granbell which was excellent to this was a let down. One last comment - none of the rooms have lake views. It is best to ask for a newly renovated room or one with a newer mattress on the quiet side of the building on floors 1 and 2. Floor three on that side has the diesel generator.
