JC Inn Dongdaemun Hostel

In terms of the price and location, the place was good enough for my short stay as a solo traveler. I chose this place due to its proximity to Donggukdae station and Jangchung Gymnasium. Accessibility: the hostel is near Donggukdae station. Take exit 2. The exit has both stairs and elevator access. The hostel is a 5 minute walk from the station as well as Jangchung gymnasium. Surrounding area: the hostel was easy to find. There are lots of nearby restaurants and cafés around the area. There's a GS25 at the corner street near the hostel. Service: upon my arrival at 10:00, there wasn't anyone yet at the reception. There is a sign saying you can leave your luggage by the counter and I did so. The area looks safe enough that no one will enter the hostel and steal your luggage. I rested a bit at the public dining area of the hostel for an hour before going out to go to DDP. There is no daily cleaning service but it was alright with me because there was a time I had to rush out and left my stuff cluttered. You have to take out your trash bags and trash to the trash bin at the public dining area. Check-in & check-out: I returned at around 16:00 though there wasn't anyone yet (again) at the reception, I could hear cleaning upstairs so I assume the innkeeper was in the process of cleaning the rooms. I called out and someone went down. Check-out process, you literally just leave on or before 11:00. But for me because my flight is late and it was raining, I vacated my room then went down to the public dining area to rest and wait for the rain to stop. Facilities: there's no elevator but the innkeeper helped me with my luggage. The room was quite spacious. There's a cabinet with hangers, a fridge below the cabinet, and a shoe cabinet below the fridge. By the door is a small table and chair. My room had a window with blinds. There's airconditioning and private bathroom. The private bathroom doesn't have a separate shower stall from the toilet as the shower head is connected to the sink faucet. There is enough space for showering and that kind of setup I am alright with because what mattered to me was that there is hot water for me to bathe in for my sore muscles. There is wifi available per floor. My only problem was that the given wifi password for my floor wasn't working but I didn't bother asking about it because my pocket wifi had unli data and I used it instead. My only negative comment is that sometimes there is faint tobacco smell that I don't know where it comes from. The room is non-smoking so it is a mystery. Amenities: there were two short towels, toothpaste, hair dryer, disposable toothbrush, and sachet of lotion, shampoo, etc. You can get refill of the sachets and toilet paper from the basket at the reception. You can also borrow an outlet adapter from the reception. At the dining area there's a water dispenser, microwave, and electric kettle. I remember seeing available coffee to but I didn't really get to try them. Overall: I will definitely stay here again if there is an event again I am going to at Jangchung Gymnasium. For a short stay and where your main purpose is to have a place to sleep, I highly recommend but manage your expectations.
