    As the hotel is directly above the JR Koenji Station on the JR Chuo line, you can easily get around the city. If it's raining, you can transit from the station to the hotel without getting wet. There is a Denny's restaurant on the 2nd floor, so you can have breakfast or a late-night dinner, etc. And you are right in the heart of Koenji, which is a great neighborhood full of restaurants, bars, live houses, vintage clothing stores, etc. The room is well-designed and the hotel is well-run. Everything is comfortable and smooth. I wish the bed were softer, but that is often the case in Japan. The hot water pressure in the bathroom is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

    In my experience in Japan and Tokyo specifically, Denny's restaurants have been surprisingly consistent AND good... This location is a definite exception. Breakfast service (included in hotel package) was slow, seemingly being served by one person, who may even have been prepping dishes in the back from cold/precooked ingredients. I cannot overemphasize how the final portion of this stay really tanked the whole visit. Room was fine if a bit small. English instructions for using the aircon were non-existent. Bath was glorious. Bed was way too firm. This might be a VERY Japanese-market focused location, but as the only real Koenji hotel, I expected a lot better, especially for the price.

    This was our third time staying at JR East. Perfect location connected to the station. Lots of shopping/bars/restaurants nearby within walking distance. It’s a busy area but quiets down later in the night and is a short train ride to Shinjuku. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I arrived an hour before check in this time and I was able to check in early for 1000 yen, which I felt was fair. The rooms aren’t huge but pretty average size for Japan and for the price!
