Alma Hotel

I’m a solo senior woman traveler. I started my Sicily trip in Palermo at the Alma Hotel, and returned for my last night before a flight out. It is wonderfully located and is a great choice for Palermo. I choose hotels over Air B & B type lodging for safety, predictability, and helpful staff. The Alma staff, all of them seem like a family. They love to help their guests! When I needed to take a bus to an outlying town, Maria made sure that I knew just where to go & how to do it. As a non Italian speaker, this was a huge help. In town, I mostly walked but when I needed a taxi, reception called for me. The room is immaculate & looks brand new even though the hotel is 12 years old. My room is on the same floor as reception, not on the street side. There’s no view, just other buildings, but it’s absolutely quiet. There is a lift (elevator) from the entrance to Reception which is staffed from 8:00 until 23:00. I have a door key & the hotel owner is available by phone and What’s App after hours. There is air conditioning/heat but in early April I did not need it. I did use the towel warmer/wall heater in the bathroom to make it cozy. That’s a nice touch. Breakfast is fine, more like a continental breakfast with fruit, yogurt, cheese and meat, boiled eggs & lots of pastry and bread. I saved my calories for the street! It’s less than a ten minute walk to both of the famous theaters, the Garibaldi & Massimo. From there, I walked all over this charming, lively, historic city day & evening. You’ll be happy with this small hotel with personal services.

Everything about this small hotel “just works! “ The Alma’s welcoming staff is professional, knowledgeable and helpful. The Capo Street Food Market was amazing. The only neighborhood that I was a bit uncomfortable with was the Ballaro market though the hotel staff said that it is fine in the mornings. I must mention a nearby restaurant called Sapori Perduti. The hotel recommended it & has its menu handy because The Alma Hotel owners also own that restaurant. I was expecting an ordinary meal after a travel day. This intimate restaurant and its food stunned me. The food was “Art.” I’m still dreaming of the exotic flavors the chef achieved. I had the Price Fixed €40, although the menu is available à la carte as well. Check the photos of the three dishes I had. I was very pleased with my stay at The Alma Hotel. You can choose to book here with confidence. Tip: The hotel can arrange transportation to meet you at the airport for €55. Do that! I took a regular taxi and was charged €84 on the meter. Everyone says that I was overcharged. The driver must have run it up when I got in the car.

We are very happy with the hotel, clean and good location good breakfast and good staff especially Noemi , Sharon and Maria Agate, they are very helpful thank you all .
