Taormina is a hilly small town so expect to walk on slopes except for the main street.

Like its name, I had a splendid time staying in Splendid Hotel. My room has a breathtaking view of the Taorminan coast. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel is strategically located near the city center and yet in a quiet neighborhood.

We were disappointed with our stay. We have stayed in many 4 and 5 star properties and felt this was not one of them. We did opt in for a standard room for two nights. Don't do it. If you stay here get a room with an ocean view on an upper floor. We ended up with a small room with an window looking at an inside wall. The Staff was delightful and very helpful. We made reservations at the rooftop restaurant because we read the chef was exceptional. The views were amazing from the rooftop, but we and one other table were the only people in the restaurant along with a cute keyboard player that played elevator music for us. It was weird. The view would have been worth it if the food was spectacular...but it wasn't. And it was expensive. But it is Taormina and to be expected. All in all I would not go back. FYI we are in Oritiga which is spectacular as was Palermo.
