Maritim Hotel Magdeburg

It's almost like a monopoly. Straddling the best location so close to Magdeburg hauptbanhof on the most famous street in Magdeburg. Yet we never see its restaurant or bar open even during the summer months. These used to be in operation during early years. I guess the pandemic from 2020 changed all that. I liked the bartender they had. He was a great people person. Its Staff today lacks passion and friendliness, working with a robot style and devoid of any warmth towards guests. You'd think you're still in a soviet era hotel where they only check you in, ask for your passport and do the absolute minimum. If there's a gym in there no one will tell you it exists. It's such a huge building and the potential to run a friendly eatery combined with a nice bar that can be the most popular in Magdeburg — is so massive. Yet it is complacent with the biz events that are held there by biz groups, ensuring that it has clientele. The towels for bath remain as small as ever. You'll never be pampered by wrap around cotton towels you find commonly in*** hotels or any popular chain hotels around the world. The shower that sprays water on your body has suffered for decades of intermittent very hot and very cold water, and their resident plumbing engineer has never bothered to fix it Told you I stayed decades here, every time i visit Magdeburg. Somehow they turn an indifferent attitude towards shower water temperature that can fluctuate between very hot and very cold, without any one adjusting the faucets. Managememt laziness comes to mind. An endless complacency. Because like i said they're fully booked during large events, so why bother. They're the only hotel that boasts of large banqueting hall, seminar rooms, etc. So customers are beggars and can't be choosers. At other good hotels you're occasionally bumped into by a friendly chatty general manager of the hotel, but here, I've never seen any GM or senior manager come out to be nice to any guests. Well, probably the GM chooses who to be nice with—the company bosses who book the hotel for events. The plug points for charging your phone or laptops are pretty hidden. Best way to charge your phone will be to unplug one of the table lamps and then plug in. And don't get me started on their impossible hotel hotspot Wi-Fi. Totally unreliable. Or is it because they often put me in a room in a far corner of the building where WiFi is weakest. One saving grace is they offer free water at the hall for people to drink who have just checked in. And free apples. But I noticed the apples run out quickly if a large group checks in.

Just 200m off the train station. Walking distance to the church and other attractions. Room need to be renovated but acceptable for a short stay.

Perfect location that very closed to train station and city center, many bars and restraunt near by. Room is clenar, shower is nice and bed is comfortable. The curtain completely blocks lights.

Hotel is dated, staff unmotivated and there are renovation works going on Bathrobe for the pool cost a 5 Euro charge Desk in my room had drink stains from previous guest
