Don’t be daunted by the lack of reviews on Agoda, this is a beautifully run establishment in the heart of an old hutong and with exceptional rooftop views of the White Dagoba. The hutong is not as commercial as for example Nanluoguxiang Road, but very charming with some excellent tea houses and coffee shops. The staff at Joy Courtyard hotel (YueMingYuan Hotel) are very accommodating and helpful. Special mention goes to ***and *** who offered plentiful advice about Beijing, helped us book taxis and make payments, made sure we had everything we needed in the rooms, and also upgraded us to a bigger room downstairs so that my parents would not have to climb the stairs to the upper floor. There is a barista and pastry chef called Wang who makes the most delicious coffees and basque cheesecake. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this inn. It is a slice of culture and history in the heart of a hutong where real Beijingers live and relax, tastefully decorated, clean, photogenic and atmospheric. There is also a pet tortoise in the pond, much beloved by my little daughter. I would definitely love to come here again.

The hotel is in a perfect location, right behind the majestic White Dagoba 白塔寺. The Hutongs next to the hotel are very lively, full of good restaurants and coffee shops. At night the White Dogaba is lit up, giving the entire neighborhood a special vibe. The staff are all supportive and considerate, responding to our requests in no time and offering services before we even ask. The breakfast is delicious, especially the wonton soup. We enjoyed playing Go at the dining table.

I'm very happy to find this little gem in the hutong. The staffs are extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. I stored my luggage after checkout to go for some planned visit. When I come back, they gave me my handphonee plugs that I forgot in the room. That save my day! Room is clean and tastefully decorated. The little garden is very cute and pleasant. It is as shown in their photos. I'll come back without hesitation.
