    If I knew that Mercure had spruced up the old *** on king st, I would never had booked there, its old and suffers from constant street noise, if you need sleep, book elsewhere.

    We had a mixed experience at this hotel. Unfortunately, our first room had a few cockroaches, and we ended up catching three of them. We asked to change rooms, and the staff handled the situation very professionally. They were friendly, apologetic, and arranged a new room quickly, which we really appreciated. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a good variety of food and everything was well maintained. The biggest highlight of this hotel is definitely the location. It is right in the heart of Newcastle, and almost every major attraction, beach, restaurant, and shopping area was within a 15-minute drive or less. It made exploring the city very convenient. Although our stay didn't start well because of the first room, the excellent customer service, great breakfast, and fantastic location made the overall experience much better.

    Staff were friendly. Location is good but quite noisy on the Friday night. Parking is reasonable and breakfast was good.
