Beautiful villa in the hillside but still just a short drive from the city center. Has everything you need and more for a perfect getaway. Thank you for such a great stay.

Sofia´s Place is a nice place for couple of nights in Heraklion area if you do not want to stay in a hotel. The house is located in an elevated position about 20 mins drive from city centre (but not secluded or very quiet as one may think). The pool and the outside area are really pleasant and barbeque area is perfect. Ample parking is also available. That is on positive site.
The place was not really clean. The floors were filthy. Stains, long hair everywhere, clumps of dust under the bed. The kitchen itself could do with some deeper cleaning. Things thrown on each other, dishes not too clean, tea towels not provided, small ants everywhere. I understand the mess could have been left by previous visitors but it all should be checked and set right when preparing for next guests.
There are cameras everywhere including pool area which on one hand adds to security feeling but on the other hand invades one´s privacy. So be aware of that! Beeping of security alarm every fifth minute or so does not add to comfort either (especially for light sleepers).
I guess showers located in bedrooms were a construction must but the drain odour can sometimes be a bit too strong.
Be informed the house is a wooden structure so is absolutelly burning during the summer heats.
The following part is an update to my original review of Sofia´s Place above. Couple of days after placing my review the owner posted his reply. Unfortunately his reply does not correspond with reality and contains lies. Therefore I contacted Booking.com to consult this issue and was recommended to update my original review. So here are my comments to the owner´s made up stories:
- The cleanliness status was exactly as mentioned in my original review. The owner was not present during my check-in so he can not know.
- There are no revenge comments or bad critique of the staff whatsoever as there is simply no reason for that. I have never asked for a party or anything like that at all. Why this was made up by the owner I don´t know.
- I was let in exactly 39 mins before standard check-in time (not 2 hours).
- There were left 2 bottles of water in the outside fridge and they remained there after I left! I am not aware of or was informed about any other "amenities". There were none.
- I did not block any alarm as did not touch any button. The system beeps every 5 mins or so.
