Lovely little self contained cottage, perfect for solo or couple travellers, with or without one medium/large or two small/medium canine companions. Private. Clean, bright, modern and tastefully decorated in yellow and grey. Although a small cottage, there is everything you need including dishwasher, washing machine, tea and coffee, books, games, TV, WiFi, blanket throw if you’re feeling chilly in the evenings. Loved the hat/coat stand and extra hooks in the bedroom, shower room, and storage baskets for (presumably) shoes/handbags on the wardrobe. Very pleased to see a tower fan available to use in this warmer weather. There is a private courtyard so dogs can wander round as long as the gates are securely closed. It isn’t massive, but it’s adequate and useful. The courtyard is also a parking space, very large cars/4x4s may struggle to fit in but there is also on street parking to free up the courtyard space. There were snacks available - biscuits, crisps (although one pack was slightly out of date which was only realised once being eaten. Didn’t matter too much as tasted fine but other people may not be so forgiving!), chocolate bars, 2 pint milk in fridge, 2 small proseccos and 1 small bottle red wine, plus a pack of dog treats and dog poop bags. I thought it was a nice touch canine companions had been considered too. There was also a stainless steel dog bowl under the sink if needed. Although dogs aren’t allowed on furniture, it is acknowledged some may want to sleep on the bed with their owners, and so under the bed is a selection of blankets/covers to place over the duvet to protect it and accommodate the dogs at the same time - very thoughtful!
Not really the fault of the property owners, but we had booked only for 1 night as we had travelled for 1 day of the Lytham Festival (or rather, I went to the festival while my husband chilled with the dogs). Upon returning to the cottage about midnight, and hoping for a good nights sleep after travelling, we could hear music coming through the bedroom wall from an adjacent property. It wasn’t anti-social loud, but it was enough that if you’ve noticed it, it may cause issue with sleeping. It was still playing at almost 1am and although I think I’d have managed to sleep, my husband couldn’t so we resorted to putting the tower fan on for some white noise to try to drown it out. If you’re a light sleeper, it may be worth bringing some ear plugs, just in case. Minor quibbles - some dust noticed on the bottom of the bedroom shelves and what appeared to be a bit of foam under the bed. The bedroom itself is a decent size for the size of the cottage and the bed is large also, but does take up a lot of the bedroom so there isn’t a huge amount of room between the wall and bottom of the bed, which may make it difficult for some people to get past, meaning they need to climb into bed from the opposite side.
