GAIA Alaçatı BY THE SEA - Adult Only

A stunning hotel in a beautiful beachfront setting. The staff were warm, welcoming, attentive and always happy to accommodate any requests. There were a few minor issues with the room, but these were resolved quickly. The thermal pool is a real highlight and a wonderful place to unwind in the evening. The breakfast was excellent, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. I especially loved the natural materials and relaxed boho inspired design throughout the hotel.

Food and drink prices are expensive, but somewhat expected for a hotel of this nature. The lunch menu is fairly limited and the evening restaurant, Rituel, offers a Michelin Guide experience, which may not appeal to those looking for a wider range of options. The location is very remote, with little within walking distance, so taxis are essential if you plan to leave the hotel. That said, it's an ideal destination if you're looking to completely switch off and enjoy a few days of relaxation without leaving.

We visited Gaia By the Sea at the end of May, slightly before the true start of season. We had a wonderful stay. Like all Gaia properties the rooms were great. But the standouts here are really the team (thanks Zeynep and the young gentleman whose name I can’t remember). In general, everyone here is trying hard and it’s a sort of low key, family type atmosphere. Alacati/Cesme can be a little overwhelming and this is the second thing I can say - after visiting the area many times - this is a wonderful and peaceful location. You can visit the town for energy and great food, or drive to Urla vineyards, or spend the days at beach clubs - but, we found we were doing great here and didn’t want to leave. The seaside area is small but wonderful and private and perfect place for a swim at dawn. The sun rises in fact opposite the rooms with heated plunge pools. Cesme area is breezy so it was all a bit of an oasis from the chaos of Alacati. We didn’t visit Rituel restaurant but came back one night and realized that was a mistake. Next time!

I think to some extent it’s a property “finding itself.” But that said, it’s smal and private and so friendly it’s hard to think of negatives per se. For someone looking for a quiet or romantic base to stay in the area - it’s perfect. Maybe for someone looking for a definitive upscale and/or energetic atmosphere I wouldn’t recommend it. Gaia is more of a calm, rarified place

Design of the rooms was lovely. Sea view with a private pool was a huge plus especially for a romantic getaway. Service was excellent. Anytime you need something the staff was there to help
