Casa Kala

Fantastic bed and breakfast with friendly and helpful hosts! The beds are the most comfortable of the 5 different hotels we stayed in this trip. The AC works great which was so important because Porto was hot! Our room had lots of nice, thoughtful touches for layout and placement of storage, seating and towel hangers, etc. The stand up shower and amenities were 5 star quality. There is a heated towel rack in the big bathroom. The stand up shower is huge. The towels were soft. The breakfast each morning has eggs cooked to order, bacon and/or waffles and a nice selection of buffet breakfast foods. The coffee is good and there are a nice selection of pastries, yogurts, fruits, vegetables and nuts. The hosts and staff members were all welcoming and very helpful. The hotel/house are behind a locked gate and wall so it’s a quiet oasis. There is a nice lawn with seating for sunning in front of the house and a shaded seating area in the back for eating or reading with a nice cushioned swing too. We had a lovely conversation with our fellow travelers in the evening out back.

We loved everything about the property. The location is a 10 - 15 min walk from the Time Out Food Market/city center area. It’s downhill most of the way, but a pretty gentle slope. The only downside was on the way back to the hotel from the old town area the street right in front of hotel has a 2-3 min steeper climb. After enjoying Porto’s food we felt like we needed the climb. It may be hard for anyone with a walking issue. We did find the ride shares Uber/Bolt (we actually used the Bolt app here) to be very affordable and cheaper than lots of other places so that is an option for returning to the hotel. To be fair, there are a lot of steep hills to climb in Porto and the one back to the hotel was relatively short compared to many others.

Casa Kala is simply the BEST place to stay in Porto! Staff are wonderful, so welcoming, helpful and nothing was a problem Delicious breakfast served in a delightful garden. All round super... Thanks to Ana, Frank, Bras and the team 😘

A green oasis in the midst of Porto

Calm and tranquility and yet close to the historical centre. Beautiful property. Staff were helpful and attentive ( especially Anna) , and nothing was too much trouble.
