An honest review… The apartment has comfortable beds and a cute view over the river from the lounge windows. Both bedrooms have en-suites and three showers were good. The wine glasses were perfectly adequate for the bottle we shared at the end of our evening. Can definitely recommend the ghost bus tour and the tapas place we ate at.

Total honestly… We were in York to celebrate a 55th birthday and planned to arrive at the apartment (4pm), shower and change before heading out for the evening. So, when you arrive be prepared for a long walk to the apartment from the car park area (and it’s not that easy to find the entrance either). The key codes are a battle in themselves and for goodness sakes don’t get in the way of other residents getting in as some are less than friendly if you do. Once inside it was clear the apartment hadn’t been cleaned since the previous guests left and it took over an hour for the cleaners to arrive to rectify the situation. Consequently our evening celebrations didn’t get off to the start we wanted. Having checked out the following morning, in line with the owners policy we then received a phone call accusing us of not leaving the parking permit and garage fob. On investigation it appears that the next occupiers had checked in early! To be fair, the owner apologised for the lack of cleaning and then apologised for the mistake regarding the parking permit. However, his offer of refunding us the cost of a bottle of wine has yet to materialise… So, if you don’t mind walking into an uncleaned apartment and you’re prepared to run the gauntlet of sharing with the next occupants knock yourself out…If like us though you prefer a much calmer and reliable stay in this glorious city pick somewhere else. Heck, there’s even a new premier inn in town!
