Balalas Windmill

Oh my goodness, this place is heaven. You have to walk a long way up from the ferry terminal, but it is definitely worth every step. What a delight to be able to stay in a windmill, sit on a terrace with a gorgeous breeze and have quintessential views from your bedroom window. The little arrival treats and water were a lovely welcome

i loved the big patio that u got overseeing the city, and a balcony area. also the whole uniqueness of the accommodation was special and tastefully put together.

second floor did not have an a/c which was annoying because every other floor had an ac. the wifi network is very weak.

Easily the best view in the whole town - simply stunning day or night! You can see the port, mountains, town below, left and right. For a 219 year old windmill it’s very comfortable, with rustic charm. Outside the massive terrace and covered seating area was perfect in the hot sun and little table overlooking the balcony was great for night time viewing. The hosts were extremely welcoming and kindly let me check in early as my ferry arrived a while before check in. The walk into town down through the winding maze of streets was beautiful whatever time of day (the walk is fun - especially after a few sundowners!). I stayed on the middle floor (was a little cooler in the mid July heat). The bed is comfy and once inside it’s very quiet. The terrace naturally has more noise, but it was fun to hear the traditional music being played from surrounding homes and especially during the traditional Greek dancing festival. Fully enjoyed my stay at the windmill, it was very unique and a relaxing time.

Not a dislike but the old door key took a few go’s to get right. I think it’s as old as the windmill - certainly adds to the charm.
