CIATU ME' Scirocco

This was the best stay on our Sicily trip! The apartment had a wonderful view, the kitchen had everything we needed, my boyfriend really appreciated the moka pot (he is a coffee lover) :) The location of the apartment was perfect - close to port and close to the center. A little longer walk to the sandy beach, but we really liked the views on the way! :) Great parking spot too! Also, we didn’t have to use the air conditioning, because the apartment stayed cool the whole day :) I also really appreciate that we could check in a bit earlier, thank you!! We also got some great food recommendations from the owner :) Overall - WONDERFUL!

The apartment is in a great location. If you put in Longo Market to your map program, you will be in old town in a quick and easy 6-8 min walk. The marina is more challenging. There are a lot of stairs there and back. The view from the apartment is beautiful! It’s a quick 2 minute walk to a market that has delicious made to order sandwiches. We really enjoyed having a washing machine. We cooked two nights and the kitchen was well equipped.

The bed is in serious need of a new mattress. It is as hard as a rock. I ended up sleeping on the small futon because the bed was so uncomfortable. The fridge is really loud at night. New sponges and dish towels would be helpful.

The location and view from the apartment balcony and rooftop terrace were both great. Parking was right outside, which was also great. The flat was clean, and the kitchen was equipped with a great set of pots and pans, plenty of plates, cups etc., a toaster (rare in Italy) and a washing machine. The AC was fine for heating the rooms during our stay. Decent wifi. Angela met us on arrival and kind of perfunctorily showed us around, but we felt pretty much on our own throughout our 3 night stay.

The place lacked some basic comforts--our main cirticisms were about the lighting (the bedroom had no bedside lamps and the overhead light had only one functioning bulb. The kitchen light flickered as did the bedroom light) and the wholly inadequate supply of hot water for 2 people (the shower had excellent pressure, but the hot water tank was very small and ran out very quickly). There were no really suitable containers for the trash, which we were supposed to sort into 3 different types. There were minimal amenties. The bed was a bit hard for us and the small sleeper sofa in the living was not the most comfortable to sit on. The apartment has the potential to be really lovely, but it felt a bit 'un-loved' to us.
