Thiessow is located on the Mönchgut Peninsula in the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve. From Thiessow, you can set out on extensive bike rides and hikes along the coast or through the Zickerschen Berge. Take a detour to the Lotsenberg and climb the Lotsenturm. From here, on a clear day, you can see the Greifswalder Oie or even as far as Peenemünde on Usedom. Nature lovers will be in their element here. Thiessow boasts Rügen’s most diverse beach—wide sandy beaches invite you to sunbathe, giving way to a narrow pebble beach and then to cliffs up to 30 meters high. Thiessow also has plenty to offer for the adventurous—take the opportunity to visit the surf and kite school.
Nearby, you’ll find the fishing village of Gager. Here, you can buy freshly caught fish or marvel at the fishing harbor. While you’re there, take a trip to Göhren and hop on the “Rasender Roland” narrow-gauge train for a ride through Baabe, Sellin, and Binz all the way to Putbus. Take a break at the stops and visit, for example, the pier in Sellin.
