About this house rental
Attention nature seekers! north country trail is literally across the street, and trail 8 is only 1 minute down the road. So If you're into exploring in your 4x4, hiking, biking, or trail walking, then this may be as close to heaven as it gets in person for you! During your stay you be surrounded by gorgeous views and complete privacy! This is a full modern completely off grid, solar powered home with plenty of room to spread out! Enjoy amazing sunsert while sitting by the campfire or preparing dinner on the grill. master bedroom consist of the entire second floor, including 2 queen beds with a half bath. There's a full bath on the main floor along with two full sofa sleepers that seem to work great for kids and then another queen sofa sleeper in the walk out basement which includes small kitchenette and a full size futon in the back sun room looking out at the lake. large kitchen that is fully stocked with utensils and cooking Essentials. Gas stove and butcher block countertops. When you stay with us you also get free use of the paddle boat; kayaks can be rented $50 ea for entire stay. Please let us know in advance if this is going to be requested. AC is not normally needed and heat is only provided by wood burner and wall heater in upstairs bedroom.

What can I say about this property that I suspect dozens of others haven't already. In a word this property is superb. It's remote location (it feels like you are in the absolute middle of no where but you're 8/9 miles from the town) is idyllic, right on a small lake. The house isn't perfect, but that's what we loved - it has character, it has personality and it has charm all within an exceptionally safe, well apportioned, incredibly comfortable set of walls.
A couple of things to help other travellers.
The owners are incredible - we had a couple of questions before and during and they were responsive and super helpful
The building doesn't have AC, but they have more fans than B&Q (Home Depot I guess for Americans) and windows have bug meshes - we stayed in the middle of the heatwave and we slept fine (better than we can in the UK during such heat)
There are mosquitoes and they do bite - its a cabin in nature, near water... The cabin had bug spray, the windows had mesh stoppers to allow the windows to be open and when the breeze got up, we weren't bothered by them as much. I suspect that in shoulder of off-season where they don't thrive, their absence would make the cabin even more perfect.
The amenities were great - great kitchen, laundry, multiple sleeping options, great shower and possibly the largest DVD collection I've ever seen in a rental property. We went out and explored from the property but you'd never get bored if you never left the building

Really pretty setting just 10 miles from Munising. It was off grid but never inconvenient. We heard owls, saw loons, and watched a beautiful sunset without ever turning on the TV. The house itself is clean with a good mix of rustic and modern. It is Michigan in the summer, so there was an entire cabinet of bug spray to fight off the mosquito army.The only hiccup was on me: there was no cell signal and I hadn't downloaded the message with the key code. Just a few minutes/miles later we were in and logged on with the steady WiFi.

Beautiful property. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher and trash in the cabin trash receptacle. We didnt know we had only had wood burning stove for heat. Maybe not a problem but it would have been nice to know this info up front.
