Perfect character cottage that catered well for a large family group. Beautiful location, close to the coast and country

The Old Sweet Shop was a lovely character cottage. We had eight couples staying and it didn’t feel cramped, everyone had their own bathroom and enough space to spread out. Loved the wonderful touches that complemented the original features and created a warm welcoming atmosphere. Great hot tub, clean and well equipped cottage, ideal for a larger gathering. Everyone enjoyed their stay log burner, excluding our collie. Fantastic location, near to the coast and countryside.

A wonderful stay, did not want to leave 😀

Absolutely amazing. The cottage was immaculately clean. We loved the cosiness and Christmas decorations. A great place to eat is The Old Ship Aground, a short walk away. The hot tub was great and added a special touch. Communication from the owners was fabulous and they were always on hand to help. The beds were comfy and the fireplace was easy to use. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Christmas in a Exmore Cottage

It was perfect! Our first Christmas with our grandson Rory – four generations celebrating together. Everything about the cottage has been thought about with us in mind – we asked for nothing, it was perfect. Thank you to all, especially for working over Christmas.”

Best place for family get togethers

The house felt so homely. Super layout with plenty of room for us all. Kitchen was really well equipped. Everything was so lovely. The hot tub was a bonus and the garden was secure for the dogs. Lovely touches, like dog bowls and beds. Made them feel at home too. Loads of dog friendly beaches to walk all within easy reach.

Homely, full of character & charm – perfect for making memories with family in a stunning location!

From the moment we booked to the time we checked out, nothing was too much trouble for Lucy and her team, who went out of their way to ensure we had an amazing stay. The Old Sweet Shop was spotless, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches. It has a wonderfully homely feel – we especially loved the collection of teddies and artwork, which added charm and character throughout the cottage. The vintage sweet advertisements were a lovely nod to the cottage’s history, which we also enjoyed reading about. The kitchen was very well equipped, including a lovely range cooker that was perfect for our Sunday roast. We also loved the big wooden dining table – ideal for gathering together as a family to eat, chat, and unwind. The garden is lovely, and the hot tub was the perfect way to relax in the evenings. The area surrounding The Old Sweet Shop is truly stunning! We had a fantastic time exploring Bossington, Minehead, Lynton, and The Valley of the Rocks. It was the perfect setting for our extended family holiday – especially meaningful as our late Dad and our Aunt used to holiday in nearby Bossington over 70 years ago. We also enjoyed browsing several fantastic independent shops and appreciated the cottage’s thoughtful eco-friendly touches, which inspired us to visit ‘Our Precious Earth’ in Minehead. For anyone needing gluten/wheat-free food, Seaview Takeaway in Minehead comes highly recommended. A huge thank you for a 5 star stay – we hope to return!

Everything was pretty much perfect! The only slight negative is that the garden isn't accessible for those with mobility challenges. However the downstairs bedroom with patio doors straight onto the driveway, is a great for access.

Cosy, eco friendly family home

We were blown away when we entered this beautiful cottage. Every detail has been taken care of and it feels very homely. My two daughters loved being here to celebrate their 30th birthday and my granddaughter Ruby was excited to see her pretty bedroom and to go in a hot tub for the first time. I appreciated the refillable eco toiletries and scourers. We enjoyed looking for fossils, collecting sea glass and doing a little litter pick at the same time at Watchet where we recommend Chives Café. Thank you Lucy and team.”

We loved everything about the property, the fact it was exactly an eight minute walk ( literally) into minehead town on a bit of a hill, and it was such a peaceful experience and very well located to access many places of interest 😊😍

Large property so much space, brilliant location and good parking. Decorated beautifully throughout, everything catered for, all you needed and more. Such a great cottage and the hot tub was lovely. The owners went out of their way to make the stay perfect in every way - highly recommend

Chocolate box house on a very high standard

I chocolate box house. Very spacious with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a very well equipped kitchen including 2 stoves and even more ovens, and 3 sofas in the living room. Even the garden provides quiet corners on several levels. For the kids, the hot tub was a big plus, daily serviced by an extraordinarily friendly team. Only 10 minutes downhill to Minehead city center and uphill access to nice walks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Sweet Shop.

Fantastic early-summer break with the family!

A lovely stay here with my partner and two-year-old. Our boy loved running down the hallway, the big bath and exploring the garden. The cottage was immaculately clean, with everything we needed for a short getaway. Thanks to Lucy and team, great communications and thanks Steve for the do’s and don’ts on the hot tub! We hope to stay here again soon

delightful cottage which oozes charm but is absolutely bang up to date with all the modern conveniences you need!

Delightful thatched cottage with 4 bedrooms. each one was individual and honestly I’d be happy to sleep in any of them. Unlike some places I’ve stayed in, there is plenty of room for everyone to sit round the kitchen table and in the sitting room, ditto plates, knives/forks/glassware. plenty of toys for my grandchildren to play with. One fridge and one fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, huge hob/oven, microwave, toaster, huge TV - nothing missing here! The cherry on this particular cake is a hot tub in the garden - amazingly this was cleaned every day! Thank you Gail :) the house was spotless and a cake on arrival was very much appreciated by all! We’d ordered a breakfast pack from Minehead's Stuart Lowen Farmshop local (via Lucy and delivered in time for our arrival) and this was really tasty and 100% recommended. communication was first class and Lucy’s catch up call beforehand gave me an opportunity to ask any questions. pre-booking information was likewise first class and once we’d arrived, the information in the folders was so helpful for us to plan our days. we will definitely be back!

it had everything you need for a great holiday .The kitchen was really well equipped .The hot tub was well maintained by the lady who came every morning to check it .The garden is lovely with lots off seating areas and plenty off areas for outdoor dining

Quaint, cosy, comfortable and clean!!!

We had the most wonderful weekend, everything was absolutely perfect. The cottage is so unique and despite being quite a large property it still has such a cosy feel to it. I don’t think any of us have had such a good nights sleep in years 🤣 we have actually had to contact the host to find out where the mattresses and pillows were from… It was like sleeping on a cloud! Lucy is a fantastic host and was available at the end of the phone at all times, but also left us uninterrupted to enjoy ourselves. We will definitely come back in the summer months to enjoy the outside area more!

Just be careful if you are tall like me! I am 6ft so had to duck to make sure I didn’t bang my head on the door frames… obviously this is to be expected in a property like this but just bare this in mind if you are very tall!

Cosy, well appointed cottage, ideal for a family weekend or holiday.

Excellent location, in the old, peaceful part of Minehead but still a reasonable walk into town. Very cosy, very well decorated and equipped. Clean, warm, comfortable beds, excellent hot tub, log fire, plenty of room, nice big well equipped kitchen.

Bathroom in the twin room is a touch small, otherwise nothing.
