Good property, nice location, great host and enjoyable weekend trip to Chartres.
Good location and value for money overall. Short 5-10 minute walk to the town centre and all key attractions. The host was extremely warm and friendly. He met us on arrival. He also arranged for simple and complementary breakfast. The kids were extremely pleased with the hot chocolate. Our intent was to crawl through the town to view the illumination, the host was very kind to map out the most logical walking path. If someone visits Chartres, I highly recomment this property. Good host, well maintained property and convenient location.
Could get slightly noisy at night, on weekends, but was nothing too bad. Also, this can be said about most properties in or near the town centre. No complaints. Just a very minor call out.

Nuits fantastiques au grenier de Chartres
The owner of the property went out his way to make sure that we were welcomed: he got in touch to explain that unfortunately he would not be able to hand over the keys himself, but he asked a friend (and family!) to meet us at the property with the keys and to show us round. Even though we delayed on the way, the friends were really welcoming and waited for us, showed us where to park etc. The property itself is very nice - old and atmospheric - and has been decorated very nicely with comfortable beds and linen. The owner also left plenty of food for breakfast such as bread, jam, butter, muesli, milk, juice - it wouldn't have mattered if we hadn't bought our own. We were slighty worried about the area as there is a bar across the road, but we were told if it was too loud to contact the owner who would try to sort it out. However, although the bar was busy, it didn't bother us and we slept very well. It was very easy to walk out of the property and go to the Chartres illuminations, churches and cathedral, market, shops etc.
Our stay was too short! Although parking was available at the end of the street, we had to wait for a place to come up and for us it would have been more convenient if you could park/drive right outside the door as we were not travelling light. However, we did know this when we booked and we managed to carry all our things up the road and up the stairs to the appartment - it was definitely worth it!

Excellent location. Good accommodation. All that one expects from an inexpensive place to stay. Beware of the stairs. You need to be moderately fit and have a good sense of balance.

Nice Apartment in an old house
Nice Apartment in a very old house in the centre of Chartres. We stayed there as a family and had a nice experience. I can only recommend the apartment.

A lovely apartment right in the middle of Chartres.
The apartment is gorgeous and very well equipped. Spotlessly clean with everything we needed for our family, a great space to safely store all our bikes and some milk, juice and breakfast supplies. Beds were very comfy and it was very peaceful. Hosts couldn’t be more helpful. They met us on arrival at a car parking space and showed us the way to the apartment. Explained where everything was, talked us through the location in the town and helped with restaurant suggestions, and spoke perfect English! Would highly recommend!

We knew about the cathedral, of course, but Chartres proved to have many other quiet delights.
The flat was right in the heart of the old town, nestled under the roof of a 16th century building. And Pierre was an affable, easygoing host.
We were happy with everything - but there is a bar across the street that might, at other times of the season, be a little noisy. Even then, it shuts promptly at 1am, so unless you are struggling with sleep (and an infant perhaps) . . .
