Repton Cottage - 25348

The cottage was beautiful and charming. It felt safe and was immaculately clean and well presented. Linens were high quality and the furnishings were lovely. It was great to stay on a farm, in the countryside. I was able to message with the owner and she was very helpful and friendly. Surrounding villages and small towns are absolutely charming and great to visit and wander around. It's very close to Calke Abbey.

The cottage is on a farm, reached by a farm track. I'm used to driving on unpaved roads so my car was OK (regular road car, not a 4x4 or anything), but it's something to be aware of before you book. This made it tricky for a taxi to find us to pick us up. If you're using a taxi, give them plenty of verbal instructions or they will end up at the nearby school. The other things to be aware of are that towels are not provided, so you need to bring your own. And even though we're in a heatwave, there was only one fan in the property (very large, did a great job), so you may want to bring your own to supplement it.

Cosy cottage with everything we needed for an extended stay. Loads of interesting sniffs to be had for the dogs. Elaine and Gregg were amazing hosts. Mafevus feel so welcome and going above and beyond.

Comfy beds, nice & warm with all the basics that you required

A clothes rail in the kitchen for wet coats would be good.

The mattress and bedding were lovely and I couldn't fault the cleanliness, when we arrived there was a bottle of wine, crisps and biscuits and although hard to find, they who looked after us was very helpful and responded very quickly. The property was well equipped with everything you needed.

I wasnt happy with the shower facilities, the shower head holder was broken so it wouldn't stay where you put it and the shower head would point down towards the wall so you had to hold the shower head yourself, and the temperature seemed to be cold or just really hot it wasnt very adjustable, I tried to use the iron which was ok but the ironing board was completely deteriorated and the board inside crumbled everywhere when I tried to use it. The TV worked fine but outdated and from the photos I thought we would have easy access tk the outside seating area, but his didn't seem easily accessible.
