The cottage was lovely, thick stone walls meant that it stayed cool, even during the heatwave. There was a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge which was appreciated after some long, hot journeys! The bedrooms were all large and comfortable and everything was clean and well thought out. There's a cute little garden down a pathway and a pub serving nice food a few doors down.
I would have preferred a bit more colour about the place, instead of the standard white and grey we seem to be subjected to everywhere, especially in a character property. We struggled a bit with the back door, it turns out you need to lift it as you turn the key.

The location was beautiful, could not have dreamed up a more picturesque village! Restaurants/ pubs with lovely food, nice little cafe, and very close to the Calke Abbey grounds. We explore the extensive public pathways around Ticknall which was thoroughly enjoyed. We would come back over and over. The kids loved the top floor bedrooms and all the cottage touches.
