Location is lovely and peaceful, short walk to the pub, plenty of room

There was nothing not to like

Beautiful property in a great location of Morthoe. We liked the fact it had comfy sofas and space to relax in the evening if not warm enough to sit outside. Very private, nice garden. Liked the location, but it was probably not great for those who are not very mobile due to the hills in the area up from Woolacombe. We enjoyed the walk down to Woolacombe but not up, although there is a bus. Lovely and clean on arrival and comfy beds. Nice, fresh, bright decor.

There were a few things...BBQ was not cleaned after previous users and had food baked on, and all the old ashes were in it, so we couldn't use it. This was annoying as the owner made it clear that they would charge anyone who left it unclean. There were no sharp knives of any kind to chop/ cut vegetables. There is no spatula to flip eggs. Cooking pots were all large, and a small pot would be useful. A few hooks on the back of the bedroom doors would be handy, too.

Lovely location - where we wanted to be. Quiet when we were there in March.

The property was a bit neglected. Curtains hanging off, freezer frozen solid, windows dirty on the outside. The kitchen cupboards were filled a bit randomly, and there were drawers with toys just thrown in. The bathrooms were odd. We found the toilets a bit of a joke, the ensuite loo was so low it was difficult to use for our old knees, the other one you couldn't sit on straight because the cabinet was so close to it .. just weird. The beds were small considering the space available. We could not get the TV remote to work even with new batteries and the games were a bit of a mess. The outside area , well, they did cut the grass at one point, but the patio area was dirty, and the table and chair set old and looked on its last legs. There were some recliners with broken rotten slats... It all felt like the owners hadn't been there for a long time and didn't have a set layout for contents or a checklist. It was even hard to identify the house because the sign was impossible to read. The comprehensive instructions mentioned things that were not there anymore and the recycling boxes and bags were not really there. I mean, we had a nice time, with friends and the place is spacious, but the owners need to get their act together imho.
