Room very small,tv not working, wash hand basin very small

Location
I stayed 10 days.
No cleaning, no bedding change, no towels changed, no rubbish bins emptied.
No pillow or mattress protectors.
Pillow cases too small for pillows so grubby stained pillows only half covered.
Sink so small couldn’t wash face or rinse mouth after brushing teeth.

It was well connected by public transport to my needs.
The house is intimate and my room quiet and in a lonely floor.
Hot water and heating is there for you.
TV always enjoyable if you can.
Nice view and gorgeous privacy curtains.
Decoration.
The truth is out there.

The room is clean, though a bit old-fashioned. This is totally fine considering the affordable price. The bathroom, however, has been renovated in a modern style, and the hot water works perfectly fine.
The receptionist is not always at the desk but stays in the house next door and can be called using the bell. The Wi-Fi works well. A hair dryer and a kettle are provided, but bathroom amenities are not included.
The room is a bit dark, so brighter lighting might make it more comfortable.
No microwave.

Location was great. Joining instructions were very clear and everything was as described. Great price.

Good location, within 10 minutes walk of everything. Was nice and warm at night when we sleeping, comfy ish bed.
Bathroom was a bit run down, eg - shower head unit was nearly falling off wall, didn’t like how above the sink there was a glass shelf both me and my partner hit our heads on. General wear and tear on things such as plasterboard.

The location very convenient
Very basic could do with updating

The location is okay, not too far and within walking distance from the old town's primary attractions. The beds were okay, and the room was well heated and equipped with wardrobe, chairs, a TV and a kettle for making tea.
The building is a very old family house, where rooms have been barely reformed to be rented individually - our room had a precariously built bathroom including a toilet and a decent shower, with walls not even reaching the room's ceiling (which allowed sounds and smells to pour into the sleeping area). There was a strong sewer-like smell, probably due to the old soil pipe system, that persisted throughout our entire 4-day stay.

We had all the basics we needed.
We only saw 1 member or staff and he was lovely.
The room was a good temperature.
The neighbourhood was quiet.
The bathroom seemed to be in a state of disrepair.
The bathroom was very cramped (toilet position and size of shower).
The chairs were inconvenient and uncomfortable. It would have been better to have had the extra space, or maybe just one comfy armchair.
The tea making facilities would have been better higher up, perhaps on a desk, which a chair could go under?

Access to public transport.
Shower was bad, water was clogged and takes long to drain out. Door was real squeky and not closing. Really old bathroom and toilet.

Loved my stay at Ivy Guesthouse–Braveheart! The place is spotless, cozy, and budget-friendly — everything you want after a day out exploring. It’s close to public transport, and the host’s hospitality could rival a five-star hotel. I’d definitely stay again!
Needs a bit of renovation but not a bother at all.

Loved how perfect it was, only downside, we just stayed overnight and left. Not got the chance to stay for a few days to enjoy the place

The location is walking distance to main attractions like the royal mile and the palace. Public buses are 20mtrs from the doorstep. Reception was responsive and pleasant. Excellent Indian restaurant on the corner.
It would have been good to have a small fridge and a comfy seat in the room. Toiletries in the bathroom.

Great position not far atall from Grassmarket and Castle, shops and some lovely cafés right on your doorstep. Room had everything we needed and good value for money. Communication with host easy/friendly.
Room was hot and we couldn't seem to turn heating down, nor did the window stay open. Otherwise all ok.

Lovely location, good welcoming instructions
Tired building, and inflated price over fringe festival (but still good value compared to other properties)

Quiet location, comfortable beds, tv, good walking distance to the city
Bathroom smelled very bad, shower leaked on the floor, bathroom door was hard to open from the inside, had to carry suitcases to third floor with no assistance, wifi didn't reach our floor

The building was aptly decorated with photos of famous Scots, we had a private bed and bathroom.
The towels weren't the cleanest, I used one to dry my hands and afterwards a few pubic hairs were on my hands. My partner didn't seem to have an issue and I didn't mention it to him at the time as I didn't want to dampen his experience but this did affect mine and as a result I decided to sleep on top of the covers and also decided against having a shower despite it being a very hot sunny weekend.

We booked the twin room for 4 days and me and my friend were really impressed with this acommodation. The twin room is very, very spacious. Its size provides enough privacy for both people. Both beds were very, very comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious enough and the water was always perfect temperature. We had a TV as well. Hair dryer and towels were provided. There is also a kettle and some teas, sugar and instant coffees. The WiFi worked very well. The host is also very nice. The street is in a quiet area. Sometimes you hear the buses and people passing by talking, but nothing that bothered us. The acommodation is very close and even within walking distance to Royal Mile, even Calton Hill where we went to as well. Overall, this acommodation is a great value for money and we will definitely recommend it to other people and rebook it if we ever come to Edinburgh again!!
We were very happy with everything, honestly.

The location of this guest room is great, not far from the city centre and main streets and next to several bus stops.

Host was very helpful and readily available. Good value for price paid. Close to a bus stop for city transit
Carpet was older, could use updating. Curtains did not cover whole window, so sun shone in early, not good if you need to sleep in a little. Windows also old, street noise was quite obvious/loud.

Not a lot
On arrival I had to ring the intercom. I was then given a number of a key box which accessed the key to the front door and room. Room was very basic also shower. The sink was partially blocked.
At no time did I meet any owners or staff which I found weird. There were no meals at all. I had to leave the keys in the hall on leaving.

My friend and I stayed for 2 nights. The hotel was situated on a quiet street. The landlord was great and very friendly. He let us check in early. The room was clean, warm, and comfortable. The shower was great, and toilet paper shower gel and towels were provided. The room had a double and single bed with extra quilts, a hairdryer, a tv, a working electric fire, and tea and coffee supplies. Although we didn't expect it, beds were made, and towels were replenished the morning after our first night. It wasn't as close to the city centre as we had expected, but that wasn't a problem as we didn't mind walking. £8.40 in a taxi. Overall, the room was basic but comfortable, warm and clean, exactly what we needed as we were out all day.

Quiet and calm. Bed was cumfy
Could be cleaner, staff not very friendly. Although a handyman that came in to do works on the place called Euan, was lovely and welcoming, and helped me with bringing my large case downstairs.

The guest house is very close to the city centre and close to supermarkets and amenities. The guest house was very clean.
We had a delay of 5 hours with our flight but the host helped us to check in at late hours after 10pm. Everything was good and we had a good stay. Thank you.
I would suggest to try to provide a kettle in each room to prepare tea and coffee in the morning if possible, and maybe a small fridge to store water, or coke or other soft drinks. Also would be nice to have soap handwash, shampoo and towels changed every day or at max every two days. Thank you.
