Air conditioning!! Pub was also nice and staff were very welcoming. Rooms were perfect for our needs and nicely done. Breakfast was also very good and as we were tight on time to get to the Uni, we had asked to be served as soon as possible, which they very kindly did so. Appreciate making that happen, thank you

Only issue we had was the head chef (owner?) came out to talk to us soon after we arrived, whilst having a drink outside. Explained we were here for our daughters graduation. Conversation was going very nicely until he asked if we were having our celebration lunch there post graduation. When I said we had booked the Pear Tree Inn, he stormed off. Was very odd and left us scratching our heads as to what we had said. We hadn't been rude in any way whatsoever and initially thought he was joking and would come back. Only conclusion we could come to was he was either miffed by us not spending more time there or that he had an issue with the Pear Tree. He made us feel extremely awkward and was a real tumble weed moment and put a dampener on what was supposed to be a happy time for us and our daughter. Not professional or grown up behaviour at all! This was the only issue we had in an otherwise very good experience at the Hammer and Pincers.

Easy to get to, clean and tidy and the staff were lovely. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was phenomenal - shame I couldn’t get there in time for supper.

I was only there for one night :-(

Property and staff were amazing. Couldn’t be more helpful. Little things providing a wine bucket and ice for the room. Room was beautiful. Air conditioning was really good and needed for the warm weather. Would definitely recommend the breakfast. Would definitely come again and try the evening menu.

Nothing everything was perfect

The bathroom was a good size and plenty of towels and toiletries supplied if required. Bed was comfortable. Good selection of teas and coffee. Both still and sparkling water in the fridge along with fresh milk. Complimentary chocolates were also a nice touch. The staff were more than helpful and very pleasant.

Unfortunately only continental breakfast was available on the Sunday and it was delivered to the room the night before. The fruit therefore had run into the yogurt leaving a liquid residue on the top and it did state pain at choc and croissants and only croissants were delivered. Fortunately we weren't charged for it as it was offered free of charge as way of apology for no cooked breakfast being available. The light in the bathroom works on a sensor which goes off various times if you are in the shower so you have to wave your arm outside the shower to turn it back on. Frustrating! Also everytime the front door was opened at the bottom of the stairs it caused our room door to bang. The fan whilst was a nice idea didn't push out any cool air that you could feel. Infact it looked very old and worn. Maybe time for them to update. For £110 for one night we really did expect better.
