Iain looked after his guests really well and his breakfast was amazing! The hotel is comfortable and is in a fantastic location for local walks and attractions.

Iain was a very accomodating and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfast and a beautiful garden next to a stream which if you walk along it will eventually lead to a woodland and lake.He is very knowledgeable about the area and was always up for a chat. Pi

Excellent location (opposite a pub/restaurant, bus stop outside the front door, scenic grounds, halfway between Grasmere and Ambleside). The hotel has plenty of character in a lovely old building with lots of natural light.
Unfortunately a bit rough round the edges in April 2026 and could do with paint/repairs/refurb/deep clean. Bathroom in the double bedroom was really very small - barely big enough to get out of the shower! Damp bedroom and very cold with the single pane sash windows.
