Inverour Guest House

After several days of chasing Munros around the Highlands, one develops a keen appreciation for the simple luxuries in life: a warm welcome, a comfortable bed, and a breakfast capable of powering a small expedition. Inverour Guest House delivered all three with remarkable ease. From the moment I arrived, the welcome was friendly, genuine and inviting. There was none of the transactional feeling that sometimes accompanies accommodation stays; instead, it felt as though my comfort genuinely mattered. The room itself was immaculate. Not merely clean, but the sort of clean that makes you wonder whether anyone has ever actually stayed there before you. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the heating system was refreshingly straightforward to adjust — a surprisingly underrated feature in the Highlands, where the weather occasionally appears to be making decisions based on a dice roll. What particularly impressed me was how thoughtfully everything had been arranged for walkers, climbers and early starters. The pre-order breakfast system is a masterstroke, allowing those heading into the hills at dawn to get fed efficiently without fuss. Packed lunches are available, and even hotel drop-offs can be arranged, making logistics wonderfully simple when planning a day on the mountains. Breakfast itself was outstanding. My morning began with a bowl of perfectly prepared porridge accompanied by maple syrup, before progressing to a hearty plate of potato cakes, black pudding, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast. Everything was expertly cooked, accompanied by excellent coffee and orange juice. The result? A fantastic night’s sleep followed by a breakfast substantial enough to convince me that climbing mountains was a sensible idea. Thanks to both, my day’s mountaineering proved 100% successful. Inverour Guest House understands exactly what its guests need and delivers it with warmth, efficiency and attention to detail. It’s difficult to ask for more than that.

Nothing, all good.

Our hosts were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. Room was big and comfy. Breakfast was great as was the Packed lunch we opted for. We had a lovely time and would definitely go again.

Only have a small gripe. TV is too small and mounted on the wrong wall making it awkward to watch.
