Lovely family house

A big group of us were staying in the Loire Valley to attend a wedding - three couples, two solo friends, and three grandparents and two children belonging to one of the couples. The house was big enough that we were able to keep from feeling totally on top of one another, and though wedding amenities kept us from spending evenings at the house, many of us enjoyed the pool and hot tub, appreciated the washing machine, and we cooked breakfast in the well-appointed kitchen. Valerie was a very responsive host, and did everything to make our stay more enjoyable. We also appreciated that she speaks very good English, as many of us did not speak much French. Finally, the town of Montrichard is really adorable. There are a handful of good restaurants and boulangeries - though, fair warning, it's France, which means that nearly every business but the Carrefour Express takes a long lunch break. The house is right on the river Cher, which flows beneath the spectacular Chateau Chenonceau, just a 15-minute drive away.

Gorgeous villa , wonderful garden and pool. A little disappointed that pool had doors over it as broken so made it very hot. Owners charming. Montrichard is a very nice town. Would benefit from more outside( plastic) crockery and a bit more garden furniture as if the house was fully occupied were bit short on loungers and had to move furniture out of pool area as too hot to sit in. But overall an excellent stay

We had a fantastic week at Villa Castalie. The kids were in the pool at least 3 times a day! There were 13 of us and I think every one of us wanted to return to stay at the house next year! The house is very well designed and spacious, and the kitchen is equipped with everything you could need. Villa Castalie overlooks the Loire River and it is also located just a few minutes’ walk from the pretty Montrichard town centre where you can find plenty of shops to buy everything from fresh baguettes to oat milk. There is, five minutes’ walk away, a lovely beach area created by the river for kids to swim in and play in the sand. There are also some fun rides and things for kids to do, as well as hire pedalos, canoes and paddle boards. Situated there, is also a lovely cafe that serves great food and drinks. We did walks along the river and around the towns. There are many lovely walks you can do in this area. There are also many castles and ruins you can visit. There are many activities for kids and adults. Next time we will definitely do the river cruise dinner. There are several lovely restaurants in Montrichard with the perfect ambience to while away the evening, sipping on fine wine and listening to a live band play. The food is so good, prepare to put on some weight! Valerie and Remy keep the house in an excellent condition. They are warm, kind and were available when we needed assistance. They also have a vineyard that produces some of the nicest wine we have tasted, and it is organic! A perfect holiday!

Un goût amer ...

Un goût amer ...

Lorsque nous sommes arrivés, le propriétaire nous a demandé un chèque de 1600€ en acompte alors qu'un montant d'acompte de 2600€ est déjà versé sur Abritel. Nous avons fait confiance en se disant que s'il y avait quelque chose on serait prévenu, car 1600€ c'est pas une petite somme. Fin de séjour, nous faisons le tour du logement avec les propriétaires, RAS. Le logement est rangé, la serpillière dans la cuisine n'est pas passée car un forfait de 250€ de ménage est prévu, nous avons passé la quasi totalité du séjour dehors (sauf en fin de soirée pour ne pas déranger les propriétaires qui sont à côté du logement ainsi que les voisins). 48H après notre départ, sans avoir été prévenu, le chèque de 1600€ est encaissé dans la totalité et le propriétaire nous écris, disant que l'état des lieux après le passage des femmes de ménages (état des lieux fait en notre absence) révèle quelques dommages et un surplus de ménage pour un montant de 370 euros supplémentaires à la location. Les propriétaires nous demandant d'envoyer un RIB pour nous renvoyer 1600€ moins la somme de 370€. Paniqué avec une somme de 1600€ retiré comme ça, et une demande d'échange d'argent en dehors de tout contrat, Abritel nous indique que le propriétaire ne devait pas nous demander de chèque ni l'encaisser... S'en suit de long échanges pour aboutir à une demande de dommage de 370€ faite finalement via abritel, en nous indiquant qu'une fois qu'abritel aura accepté de verser les 370€ nous récupérerons la totalité de notre chèque. Nous ne contestons pas l'ensemble des éléments facturés, d'ailleurs nous avions signalé un verre de vin renversé sur un rideau, notre démarche était honnête. Cependant nous avons été surpris que malgré le forfait ménage de 250€, des frais de ménage soient facturés (alors qu'au moment de rendre les clés rien ne nous avait été signalé...) Nous conseillons aux voyageurs de ne pas laisser de chèque de caution en plus de la caution déjà versée sur abritel. Nous conseillons de faire le ménage dans le logement, car malgré un forfait de 250€ des frais supplémentaires peuvent être facturés. 1600€ de débité sans être prévenu, de nombreux appels avec abritel pour que les choses soient faites dans les règles et récupérer notre argent ... Bref, tout ça laisse forcement un goût amer à notre séjour.
