Nestled among the trees, 45 Salt Rock offers an airy, light-filled retreat with expansive windows that evoke the feeling of an elegant mountain treehouse. Private decks and balconies off each bedroom create serene tucked-away spaces for reading, conversation, or quiet relaxation.
The generous living room deck invites effortless outdoor living—perfect for morning birdwatching, evening stargazing, lingering with a book, or simply unwinding against the backdrop of Shortoff Mountain.
Thoughtfully designed across multiple levels, 45 Salt Rock welcomes you on the lower level with a spacious second primary suite featuring a king bed, ensuite bath, and private deck, along with a laundry area and garage access. Upstairs, the main level opens into a bright, open-concept living space with a gas fireplace, dining area, and a fully remodeled 2026 kitchen with pantry. A new deck with a gas grill, comfortable seating, and firepit overlooks the side garden, creating a refined setting for gathering and relaxing.
The main-level primary bedroom features vaulted ceilings, expansive windows, and tranquil wooded views, with a private deck perfectly suited for a quiet morning read or personal yoga practice. A second main-level bedroom offers a queen bed, full bath, and private deck with access to the fenced garden, while the third-floor loft provides a spacious king bedroom with ensuite bath and private balcony.
Summer 2026 — Completely Remodeled Kitchen
Whether enjoying takeout from one of Highlands’ celebrated restaurants, sharing a casual pizza night, or preparing a full holiday meal from scratch, the newly remodeled kitchen is beautifully appointed with the tools, cookware, and essentials needed for an effortless stay.
Each of 45 Salt Rock’s four bedrooms is designed for restful comfort, featuring new memory foam mattresses, luxury-count sheets, and memory foam pillows so guests wake refreshed and ready for a waterfall hike or a stroll through town. Oversized bath towels and Gilchrist & Soames Bee Kind bath amenities add an elevated touch, while all four bathrooms have been fully updated and the home’s interior and exterior refreshed with new paint or stain.
Parking is available for up to three vehicles.
Dog-friendly accommodations include a fenced side garden with convenient access from the mud room. A $250 pet fee applies.
Guests do not have access to HFCC's facilities as it is a private club.
However, the Highlands Rec Center offers visitors daily or weekly options to use the heated/covered pool, the fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts and special events throughout the year. Public golf options are also available in the area.
Our location in Highland Falls Country Club is so close to downtown Highlands makes it easy to attend the live concerts, arts and crafts shows, and seasonal farmers markets held at Kelsey Hutchinson Park, or one of the live performances at the Performing Arts Center or Playhouse.
Inquire about stays less than shorter stays, will do our best to accommodate.
You'll find Salt Rock equipped with a Cuisenart coffeemaker. We provide cone coffee filters, dish and dishwasher soaps, starter quantities of bath amenities, TP, PT, trash bags and detergent.
Our guests do not have access to the club's facilities. Only Club members and their guests are permitted to use these facilities. My family had such a good time in Highlands and staying here! The house is not just pretty it’s very comfortable and homey! The fall leaves were gorgeous sitting on the back porch as well

This was the second time we’ve stayed at this property and — again — it did not disappoint! The location is great — very nice gated community and a great view, and very close to town. The house is nice, open and tons of natural light. It’s also very well appointed, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with the things you need to cook a nice meal. We would stay there again!

We just returned from a week long visit to Highlands and staying in this beautiful home. The home, its furnishings, layout, cleanliness, location, and views were all great. Thank you Melle for being a fantastic host. We hope to return again when in Highlands.

We had our first opportunity to visit Highlands NC with our daughter-in-laws family who traditionally go every year to their home on Scaly Mountain. This rental property allowed us to enjoy everyone in one home during down time… the location made for easy access to downtown and all the activities that this time of year offers… our dog also had the best of both worlds with being part of the family fun and having a phenomenal backyard to roam and explore..
