About this farm stay rental

Welcome to our recently remodeled ranch home, a unique historical gem with a story that stretches back to the late 1800s. Nestled on this property is a remarkable Historical Marker commemorating its role as a crucial stop on the stagecoach line heading West during that era. The original Ranch house, built by the Wurzbach family, is now the main house in this listing, steeped in history and charm.

**Historical Marker and Ranch History:** As you explore the property, take a moment to appreciate the Historical Marker that stands as a testament to the rich history of this ranch. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this very land served as a vital waypoint for pioneers heading westward on the stagecoach line. The original Wurzbach family Ranch house has been meticulously preserved and renovated, providing you with a unique opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern comforts.

**Living Area:** Stepping inside, you'll be captivated by the grandeur of the living area, complete with a magnificent fireplace and a spacious dining table accommodating up to 10 people. This space is designed for gatherings, relaxation, and even storytelling about the ranch's rich past.

**Kitchen:** Our well-designed kitchen is a chef's delight, fully equipped to meet the needs of culinary enthusiasts. Whether you're planning a family feast or an intimate meal, you'll find all the tools and amenities required to prepare delicious dishes.

**Bedroom Setup:** The Master suite boasts a regal King-size bed, ensuring a luxurious night's rest. The other bedrooms are equally inviting, each furnished with cozy Queen-size beds. Additional cots are available for accommodating extra guests, ensuring everyone has a comfortable place to lay their head.

**Bathrooms:** Three of the bathrooms feature double sinks and ample space for changing, promising convenience and comfort for our guests.

**Scenic Views:** The ranch home is perfectly positioned next to the pool, offering breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside. It's an ideal spot to relax, unwind, and soak in the natural beauty of the area, while also reminiscing about the history that unfolded here.

**Pool Access:** Guests enjoy not only stunning views but also direct access to the pool. While it's often possible to have the pool all to yourself, it's worth noting that, occasionally, you may share the pool area with other guests. This shared space creates opportunities for friendly interactions and shared experiences.

**Property Owners:** Keep in mind that this is a working ranch, and the owner's family resides in a house situated at the back of the property. You might come across them while enjoying the outdoor spaces, and they are always happy to share stories about the ranch's legacy.

**Capacity:** Our property comfortably accommodates over 20 guests, making it an excellent choice for larger groups and families. For those looking to celebrate special occasions, such as weddings or other events, we offer a separate "event" booking option with additional fees. Feel free to inquire about event bookings, which may include both overnight stays and "event-only" guests.

In addition to the rich history and amenities offered on our ranch, there's a world of exciting activities waiting for you in the San Antonio area. Visit renowned attractions like Sea World and the iconic River Walk. Discover the vibrant local restaurant scene, offering a taste of Texas hospitality and flavors. Your stay here promises a unique blend of history, comfort, and adventure. We look forward to welcoming you to our exceptional property!

Great property for large gatherings! Walter was an excellent host who did not bother us yet responded very quickly to any issues. We rented the entire property (main home 3 separate cottages) to accommodate 3 generations and had no issues. Other reviews mentioned random people entering the property; however, that was not the case for us. We had the property to ourselves. This is a very beautiful 1906 property so it has character and some wear and tear; however, it is clean. If you're expecting a modern home, please look elsewhere. It's on a large plot of land with ranch animals so expect to hear the rooster every morning. The kids loved running around with the chickens, petting Daisy (friendly dog), seeing armadillos at night and swimming in the pool. As it's on a ranch, expect flies, bees and an occasional scorpion; yes, it can be a nuisance but it didn't spoil our weekend. The main house has a large kitchen, 2 large eating areas and a large living area with 2 large sofas. The bedrooms are well-sized for 2 adults and kids slept on the sofas, thick mats (in the closets) or air mattresses. The cottages are very well organized and have bathrooms and a/c units; they are steps away from the main house and provide privacy for those who want to escape chaos from the main house. One cottage has a half-bath but it's connected to another cottage which has a full bath. Laundry access available up on request. Thank you again to Walter for a great stay!

We’ve rented various homes for family vacation for the past 12 years and this was one of my favorite stays. Owner very responsive. Property and house are beautiful and the bedrooms are charming, comfortable and quiet. The air conditioning was good even on the 2nd floor. Pool very nice, but wish the door that allows direct access was working. Family dog was so sweet, but she does roam the property so going around and getting in and out of the pool gate was a bit worrisome until we got to know her. We traveled with 11. The kitchen was adequately stocked, but might call ahead if you’re cooking for a larger group. I rated this house a 4/5 because all the hardbacks chairs are uncomfortable and not very sturdy. Same for the outside furniture in the fireplace section. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us.

Stay is awesome it’s in the country so definitely country vibes! I did host small party for my 15 year old daughter and they loved the house it’s historic vibes, property manager did come and greet us he is on the property separate from where we stayed.Pool was awesome at night so beautiful and refreshing!! My kids even got great swim before checking out. My family and friends had so much fun and there is chickens and roosters walking around caught several cardinals and pretty humming bird early in the morning so pretty. The only thing is carpet in the kitchen and living room area however my guest didn’t mind taking off there shoes if you are not okay then wear socks.

Great people operating this VRBO. No issues with accommodations except the kitchen/frig is a pretty awkward arrangement, especially for large groups. Updated, classic turn of the century (1900) structure without ruining the "old" effect that we wanted the grandkids to sense. Enjoyed the privacy with any help needed (and there was not any) within earshot. P.S. GG daughter really enjoyed the chickens!

We normally gather with 60 family members but this year our immediate family of 10 & 2 littles ran away instead of buying a bunch of presents. My 90 yr old Mamaw snuck away with us. The property was peaceful and beautiful. Owners live on site and were so available and helpful. The home was clean and beautiful with Christmas trees and decor. EverytHing we needed and comfortable clean beds. Only problem we had was Mamaw getting into the house from the car. There are steps at back door with no hand rails and walk to front door was little far for her but she managed. The beds upstairs are lower to ground. Down stairs are high and first night was rough because she cant go upstairs but owner found us a homemade step that helped night 2 & 3 after I spoke to him about the issue. Only other problem was getting in front gate. Code to padlock is very hard to see and manipulate at night.. 3 of us left for church Christmas Eve and they locked the gate on us while we were out. Thankfully my son was at the house and came out to help open lock. We loved the outdoor fireplace but indoor fire place by the pool which a few of us took a polar plunge. 2 nice shower upstairs, tub/shower downstairs. The views are beautiful and sitting in living room accommodated our large group. However chairs in dining room are little rough. But the ones in 2 other dining areas were very nice. So we borrowed them for our time and returned on exiting. The listing had hot tub listed.when we booked.. NO HOT TUB!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great house. We loved the history of the property. The owner had great communication. The pool was one of the favorites among the group. If we are ever in the area, we will definitely stay at this property again. Thank you!!!!
