Very big room, neutral decor, nice balcony with distant view of sugarloaf, (rooms facing the front have superb views of Christ the Redeemer) comfy bed. Staff were friendly though I didn't need anything from them. Some reception staff don't speak any English so don't rely on that
It was easy enough to check in online (which is mandatory) but quite a rigmarole having to send copies of passport and a photo of yourself as part of the process. Not quite sure why as my passport was then copied upon arrival and another photo taken - this is required as photo recognition is used for entry.
The common parts on the guest bedroom landings need updating. They have remained the same for about 20 years. I have previously stayed in this hotel under previous brands Ceaser and Mercure.
