Oak + Stars Hideaway

Wow - the facilities were great, and there was such care and thoughtfulness put into all aspects of the stay. The property was well maintained, and such a gorgeous location; we were able to shut off from work and everyday life stress and just enjoy our time in nature. Chloe and Jez were attentive hosts and made our stay exceptional.

Loved the hot tub & private outdoor area. Bed was really comfy. The whole vibe was just really cosy we loved it.

Nothing not to like!! We couldn’t find a tea towel, maybe we didn’t look hard enough but we ended up using a bath towel.

Everything

Nothing

Such a cute little place! The oak woodwork and attention to detail were beautifully done, and it really felt as though no expense had been spared in creating the hut. Everything was finished to a very high standard, and it had almost everything we could possibly need. The hot tub was lovely, as was all of the outdoor space. The owners were friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything, but otherwise left us completely undisturbed, which we really appreciated. We also loved being able to have food delivered straight to the door! Living somewhere very rural ourselves, that’s a novelty we don’t get to enjoy at home!

Unfortunately, the location really let this otherwise lovely little place down. It’s right beside a road, and we struggled to sleep as every passing car woke us up. There was also a constant stream of people walking past, along with the drone of traffic and the occasional sirens from the valley beyond. We found the whole environment quite stressful and struggled to properly relax. The only thing separating the hot tub from passing pedestrians and traffic was a woven twig hedge, which offered very little privacy. We felt rather exposed and observed whenever we used it, which took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. It’s such a shame because the hut itself and outdoor space was wonderful and so were the hosts, and somewhere a little more rural and secluded it would have been absolutely perfect for us. I imagine anyone accustomed to living in a town or city might not find the surroundings particularly bothersome, but coming from the countryside ourselves, we found the lack of peace and privacy quite disappointing.
