We had a lovely 3 night stay at Gite La Source. Even though it was 35C outside it stayed cool downstairs inside the Gite due to the thick stone walls, and the main bedroom upstairs had air-conditioning. The Gite has been nicely converted, it had a powerful shower, a good size bathroom, a large main bedroom with a large comfortable bed. The Gite is on a very quiet side road in Mer so it made for a peaceful stay. There are 3 other Gites sharing the same courtyard entrance as Gite La Source, but La Source is the only one on the right hand side and has its own enclosed rear terrace. We visited Chambord, which is only 15 minutes by car, and Blois about 30 minutes by car. Mer has a good Super U just a few minutes from the Gite. It was an ideal place for our short stay.
If I was being really fussy I would say a few little touches would make the Gite perfect - a few more coathangers (only 4 were provided), a toilet roll holder so you don't have to put the roll on the floor, a mirror in the main bedroom, perhaps a few more pictures to make it more homely, and a plant or something to brighten up the courtyard. None of these things detracted from our stay, so they are just our observations and little suggestions. We liked the quietness of Mer, but found it doesn't really have good restaurant options, just a few takeaways with tables outside.
