Lovely property , amazing views and great location

This is a beautiful historic property in a fabulous, special location. It's a really unique place to stay. There are windows all around and the views are spectacular. The kitchen is great; the dining room and living room are comfortable, functional, and beautifully decorated. There is a half-bath downstairs. The upstairs bath is lovely and has a big shower. There are great balconies on both floors. I couldn't tell from the pictures, so I will describe here: the upstairs has one big bedroom with one king bed and two twins as trundle beds in the same room. The washer/dryer (which work well) is in the hall between the bedroom and the bath. There is parking for one car, which is easy and safe. The grounds have wonderful trees and gardens. There is a stone stairway down to the water (rock boulders). The property is quiet, and you can watch boats, birds, fishermen, etc. in the water below you. There are binoculars in the house to use. There's a history of the house you can read, which is interesting. It's very close to downtown Gloucester by car, and close to a couple of beaches.

This property is managed by Vacasa. I did not enjoy dealing with them. The property owners actually live in the large house next door and are very nice and were helpful when we had an issue. Vacasa charges the entire amount of the rental when you book, and they make you download their app in order to sign a contract and get the code for the key box. They sent an introductory email saying "We provide complimentary start-up amenities, including a couple of rolls of toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, trash bags, dishwasher pods, sponge, dish soap, laundry soap, and hand soap. Guests are responsible for purchasing any additional supplies needed during their stay." At this price-point, I expect more than a couple of rolls of toilet paper. In fact, there were ample supplies in the house, including plenty of toilet paper and nice things like salt, olive oil, and vinegar in the kitchen, but Vacasa doesn't tell you this. The beds were on the soft side for us. The king has a memory foam-type topper which you sink into, and the twins are softer foam. This is not necessarily a negative, but is good to know: the house doesn't have air conditioning. Since it's high up and right over the water, you get wonderful sea breezes that cool the house, and most of the windows/doors open and have screens. So the house airs out really well and cools down at night. And there are fans you can use. We had absolutely no issues with bugs/mosquitos coming in. (There is heating for the cooler months.) Also not necessarily a negative, but good to know: the bedroom has dark curtains for the main doors and windows, but there are high windows that have no cover. So the room gets light when the sun comes up. There is a TV in the bedroom, but has no cable/streaming/antenna/dvd included. You have to use casting to watch anything.
