Everything was fine except the creaky old mattresses

Very central in the city, Very reasonably priced and cosy enough for a short stay.

Bed was noisy and not very comfortable, WiFi didn’t work in the room and only seemed to work on the ground floor. Not a big issue but if you’re visiting from outside the EU, have an eSIM ready if you’re choosing here. Also, no shower gels or shampoo in bathroom and hand soap seemed to be watered down. Again, not a big issue for me personally as I bring my own stuff.

Location was great as it was right in the centre of Funchal.

No housekeeping provided, unexpected given the price per night. Only two body towels for a 5-night stay. No reception, so no way to request extra towels, toilet rolls, etc. No shower gel or basic toiletries, had to buy our own. Toilet seat is too high, at 5'3", my feet didn’t touch the ground. Parking listed as a facility, but no on-site parking available. Had to park 10 minutes away-manageable, but misleading. Tourist tax only mentioned at the end of the stay, would’ve been helpful to know upfront so we could prepare cash or have it included in the price. Overall, facilities are quite limited and didn’t meet expectations.
