Violet, the manager was amazing!!! The property is in
a great location - the heart of everything. We had complimentary snacks and water.
The bed was a bit hard for us. Based on the photos, I thought there was an on-site bar and restaurant...bit it was fine.

Beautiful building and room steps away from the main square. Short walk to the big markets, restaurants, shops etc. well stocked toiletries and free drinks and snacks. Water takes a while to heat up but gets very hot and plentiful.

Casa de la Asuncion is perfectly located in the middle of old Oaxaca. The hotel is in a charming old building and the rooms are very modern with fully up to date facilities. Violeta was extremely helpful making arrangements for everything we wanted to do.

The location is magnificent. We were there at the Day of Dead. The parade goes in front of the hotel. We watched the whole parade from our room’s balcony, was amazing.
There was no breakfast, but there are lots of cafe’s and restaurants close to the hotel. They don’t change towels and sheets, they say they do it every 4 days, we were there for 3 days, we couldn’t catch it. The first day, I didn’t know the rule, so I throw the towels on the bathroom floor (like all the other hotels all over the world), but they got them from the floor and put it back to hanger🫣The windows and doors are not sound proof, the whole noise of the street and parade is in the room. If you have difficulty to sleep in the noise, definitaley don’t choose this hotel

The lady at the from desk was very helpful and kind. She was there with any question we had

Location was amazing, and the back rooms are very quiet
You have to be careful with the having the street-facing room, which is super noisy

Amazing location, sparkling clean, friendly and helpful staff. Within walking distance to everything. Hotel offered wonderful food recommendations. Would absolutely stay here again.
All was wonderful. Some rooms face the street and you may experience a bit of noise. Request a different room or bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. We didn’t mind, and all other positives were amazing.

The interior of this hotel is absolutely beautiful. The courtyard, columns and wide staircase were built with the cantera, seen in many historic buildings around Oaxaca.

Beautiful boutique hotel with modern rooms. We stayed at the Amatista room which was quite spacious and clean. We chose one without a balcony for a more quiet stay since the hotel is practically across the zocalo. It was also nice that the hotel was right across the city center and walking distance to pretty much everything. Violeta, who I think is the owner, was super nice and attentive. Will definitely stay there again!

Great location and very clean
Because it was very near the Zocalo it was noisy sometimes

Close to the zocalo! Tons of restaurants and cafes nearby. Violeta at the property was amazing! She had great recommendations, was very attentive and made our stay so pleasant!

beautiful rooms. balcony overlooking zocalo.could hear the festival music each night. central to everything. no hassle, private entry/exit
the beds were so,so hard. so hard they ruined our trip because we all (even young kids) couldn't sleep without frequently waking from pain. stiff necks and backs next day. I'm still recovering :( the towels are like sandpaper...switch to better detergent to provide some luxury for price

My husband and I had the best stay at Casa de la Asuncion. It was the first stop in our four week trip around Mexico - and it is definitely a highlight so far. Location was unbeatable, in the middle of everything with all major attractions and food spots with in walking distance. Rooms were huge and clean, great amenities. But it was the staff that absolutely made the stay great. Violeta was contactable via WhatsApp before we checked in and was super flexible on check in time (we got in really late). We encountered some issues with our ADO bus to Puerto Escondido when we checked out and Violeta was an amazing help. She called the company to find out more, researched other travel options for us and allowed us to keep our bags in the room until our new departure time. She made a challenging situation as stress free as possible. We would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone travelling to Oaxaca.
Nothing, everything was great

The building is beautiful and well maintained. We stayed at the Malaquita suite ( 2 connecting bedrooms each has its own bathroom). The rooms have high ceilings and are spacious, clean.

The building is beautiful, tastefully decorated. The room has high ceiling, is spacious and clean. The location is central, close to the Zocalo thus very convenient, walkable to all the main sites and good restaurants. Violeta, the hotel manager is very nice and helpful.

Location, room, amenities and host, Violeta.
Always there to help or greet.

Great location next to central square. New rooms, well organized and very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel is very small (seven rooms) and not manned after hours (although the staff was available and attentive after hours via WhatsApp.) This was fine for me but might be a consideration for a higher needs quest.

Great location. Violeta was wonderful and helped us with taxis, private transportation to area sight and restaurant recommendations.
The hotel is small and is very quiet. This may not be festive enough for some younger quests. Each room is given bottled water to use with the coffee makers. You need to go to a store to buy liters of water as you can’t drink the tap water. Although is not expensive to do this it is a bit of a hassle. You also need to purchase milk as no creamer is provided with the coffee maker.

Spacious, clean, plenty of room for clothes, comfortable big beds, balcony, 2 bathrooms in our 2 connecting rooms family suite, fabulous location one block from the Zocalo, excellent and helpful staff/manager who had good suggestions for restaurants and shopping, nice restaurant downstairs open during the day
We liked everything about it!

Great location close to the zocalo, restaurants and action. Violet was exceptional! She helped us with everything - scheduling taxis, tours to Monte Albon, etc, and recommendations! We will definitely stay he again.
We could have used an extra small garbage can other than the one in the bathroom.

Located in the heart of the city, it’s surrounded by the essence of Oaxaca. This is not a hotel in the traditional sense, unusually exquisite rooms in a beautifully renovated colonial courtyard building.
It’s hard to avoid loud music or car noises in Mexico. We had to give up street view for a windowless back room for peace and quiet. The good news is it was available and was no less wonderful. Violet was most understanding and helpful.

Location was perfect. Though there was a parade, a celebration or another street activity almost every morning and night, we loved this little gem. Our balconies gave us a Birds Eye view of all festivities. Violetta was always helpful and friendly. We had her arrange taxi/guide after our first day and we were very happy with the service and price of everyone she set up. Out room was big and lovely with all amenities and a great bathroom. We felt safe, secure and welcome.
Breakfast is not included, but there is a very cool little breakfast/lunch restaurant in the courtyard.
If you want a quiet place at night, bring earplugs or try not to book a room facing the street.

Super location. Violeta is superb.
less about this specific property but Oaxaca has become very expensive. price value not good enough for Central America.
9.0 / 10.0
Large rooms, comfortable beds, lovely staff, very convenient location, AC
No common areas (first floor is a small restaurant), no front desk after 3 pm, on a noisy street (AC important if you don’t want street noise), little natural light
