Temptation

The rooms were very modern and the whole place from the pool to the dining area was kept immaculate by the staff. The location is great for the beach and all of the good restaurants in this area. We ate somewhere different each day and never had to walk further than 10 minutes. Egg dishes in the morning were great. We'd definitely stay again if we came back here and would definitely recommend this part of town over Hikkaduwa beach area as it was significantly nicer and more relaxed. The beach here is also better and this is the better end of that beach (in our opinion at least!). Seaview room had a nice balcony for chilling out in the breeze and indulging in a bit of people/traffic watching. It's not a seafront hotel, so you can't see the beach etc, but if staying again I reckon the upgrade was worth it.

It didn't bother us as we're not light sleepers, but any hotel on this strip is going to get noise at night from the road (Sri Lankan buses love to honk at 1am) and the nearby train track. It seems the "Vibration hotel" a few doors down also lives up to its name on a Friday! It's all part of staying this close to the beach, but worth knowing if that kind of thing bothers you. We had breakfast included and whilst the egg dishes were super tasty, the Sri Lankan breakfast was really disappointing compared to our other hotels. Possibly as we were staying during the fuel crisis and it seemed like a lot of places had shortages/had been hit by far fewer tourists than normal for this time of year. Enough variety for 2-3 days, but if we stayed a similar length again (6 nights) we'd probably go pay-as-you-eat if it was cheaper and try some of the other options on that road.

Temptation is a bit of paradise in Hikkaduwa. Hidden gem of a building with beautiful flowers that climb the inside balconies and walls. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and comfortable. The ice cold fruit juice after a long flight and taxi ride was so welcomed! The room was always cleaned to a great standard and the bed was comfortable- we slept so well each night. Breakfast was delicious. Good choice and high standard. The staff are great:friendly and accommodating and work so hard at what they do. Location wise: you are in the heart of some of the best places to eat/ drink and across the road from the beach. Whilst on the A2 road, traffic noise was not an issue. The manager is great and was able to organise anything we needed. He even gave us a small gift on our departure.

Our only negative was unrelated to the hotel itself. I can’t fault that, but the neighbouring hotel ‘Vibration ‘ Friday night party was incredibly loud - music until the early hours. Noise cancelling headphones / earplugs may help? It was only an issue on that one night.

Too expensive for what you get. Specially the service was bad. When we arrived no one explained anything about breakfast, and then next day we cannot order the sri lankan breakfast because you need to do it the previous day… They tried cooking something but it was definitely not enough/not the best
