amazing apartments - Torphichen Place by Haymarket

The property was in a good location to walk into town and was very close to Haymarket train station and to bus and tram services. It was also within easy walking distance of Waverley Station. The neighbourhood was quiet and it was good to have a break from the hustle and bustle of the town. The flat had everything we needed and it was nice to have a lounge to relax in.

The flat is on the third floor so there are lots of stairs. The hallway had a terrible smell all the time and the whole hallway was very unkept. The other flats are for residential use but the neighbours we met were very pleasant. Some of the flat was a little tired and the mattress was very soft.

The apartment was spacious, comfortable, warm and very quiet. The location was excellent -- Haymarket train station was a stone's throw away, there were lots of shops and cafes nearby, and Princes Street was a short walk away. We also loved having access to a washing machine.

The oven was difficult to use because all the icons on the knobs (temperature, setting) had worn off. The shower was also not great. The water pressure was terrible and the showerhead didn't stay up on its own but kept drooping down. There was also very little counter space in the bathroom.

Trotz zentraler Lage sehr ruhig. Das Bett war bequem. Oberflächlich war es sauber. Die Küche ist voll ausgestattet und funktionstüchtig. Die Heizung funktionierte gut. Die Dusche war funktionstüchtiger als in so einem alten Haus erwartet. Seife, Toilettenpapier etc. waren ausreichend vorhanden. Staubsauger, Besen, Putzmittel war vorhanden.

Es ist ein altes Haus, was natürlich Charme hat, aber es war extrem ungepflegt im Treppenhaus (Müll, klebrige, fleckige Treppen, Licht geht nicht auf jedem Stockwerk, Glasdach hat ein Loch und bei Regen werden die Stufen nass, unangenehmer Geruch). Wir haben die Schuhe ausgezogen, bevor wir die Wohnung betreten haben, aber viele Leute vor uns haben das wohl nicht getan. Der Teppichboden ist sehr schmuddelig (da hilft es auch nicht neue bunte Läufer drüber zu legen) und auch die Wände sind recht angeranzt. Das Sofa im Wohnzimmer ist kein Schlafsofa, obwohl es im ausgelegten Infoblatt so genannte wird. Es empfiehlt sich auch, die Sofakissen nicht anzuheben, da es darunter sehr schmutzig war. Wir haben gebeten, das sauber zu machen, aber die Hausverwaltung (?) sagte, das Sofa dürfe nicht mehr als Schlafsofa genutzt werden und der Schmutz darunter muss von einem früheren Gast sein … die Schlaffunktion gehört nicht mehr zum Ausstattungs Umfang der Wohnung (und deshalb wohl auch nicht mehr zum Reinigungsumfang!?…) Wir hatten für 10 Tage jeder nur ein kleines und ein großes Handtuch zu bekommen (wir haben aber unterm Bett in einer Schublade zum Glück noch mehr gefunden, denn die Waschmaschine/Trockner-Einheit hat nicht gut funktioniert (sehr hoher Zeitaufwand; Wäsche immer noch feucht - trotz übersetzter Bedienungsanleitung im Internet).

first of all; 3rd flor, no lift. Carrying our luggage to up was hell. The apartment needs an update. Shower head- no water pressure, Mattress ist probably 100 years old. The towels are stinking. 🫣 🤮 😝
