Great location on the high street, 10% off at the Thai restaurant if you stay at the hotel. Bed is very comfortable, super lovely. Breakfast is absolutely generous and lovely as well. You can tell the owner made great efforts to operate the business and make guests happy. Very good value for money.
We stayed at the Aloft, and when you take a shower, the water stays there until you flush the toilet; then it drains. I think it’s a pressure issue. Also, the water temperature isn’t very stable. It’s an old house, so it’s understandable.

There’s no signs to warn tall people over 6ft to mind their heads from low walls especially in and out the toilets .

Situated centrally although on a busy main road therefore could hear all passing traffic
We recently stayed at this property and unfortunately had a very disappointing and concerning experience.
The roof was leaking - this was reported during our stay, but instead of a proper repair the walls were simply wiped down. Cleanliness and maintenance were clearly lacking: there was a dirty kettle on the outside with water from previous guests still inside, and the fridge was positioned awkwardly, unsteadily encroaching on a stool between the clothes-hanging space.
The bathroom was in an
unacceptable state. The electric shower was extremely slow and appeared broken, the shower tray was backed up and full of hair, and the toilet was attached to a noisy macerator. Even more worrying, the shower light had no cover and there were no visible fire doors, escape signage, or extinguishers - which made us feel the property was unsafe.
Breakfast was advertised as cooked, but at the last minute this changed to a basic
"breakfast box" containing a banana, small cereal box, corner yoghurt, pain au chocolat, a bag of milk and a bag of orange juice, all of which was left at the foot of the stairs un refridgerated. This felt misleading and very poor value for money.
Due to the safety concerns and overall condition of the
accommodation, we cancelled the Thai meal we had booked for the following evening and chose to head home a night early. We raised these issues with the owner but have received no response — not even an apology.
Sadly, we won't be returning.
Based on our experience, this property was not fit for purpose and did not represent good value. Please be aware before booking.

Here's the good news, our experience at the Siam Cottage Guest House was the only truly bad one in a two-week trip through the south and west of England. Part of it was our perhaps overly high expectations. This was a 50th anniversary trip, including to Moreton-in-Marsh where my wife and I met 51 years earlier on the nearby station platform. We love Thai food so something about a B&B above a Thai restaurant immediately appealed, and place itself is OK, the service is another story. Unfortunately, while the B1 was OK, the B2 was catastrophic. Our final emailed instructions confirmed the listing with "... a cooked BREAKFAST WHICH IS SERVED after 9 am in one of our restaurants ..." After check-in we were told the only breakfast available was the advertised alternative, "... A BREAKFAST BOX WHICH WILL BE PLACED OUTSTIDE YOUR ROOM THE NIGHT BEFORE." We vigorously argued this point, as the recently received instructions were clearly fraudulent. After a contentious argument with the manager, he ultimately offered an additional 5% off the promised 5% Thai dinner discount, which we reluctantly accepted. He seemed to think he only needed to compensate the difference between his costs for the two breakfasts, overlooking his false advertising and outright fraud in the check-in instructions. Then at the last minute, the restaurant staff told us they'd been instructed to not serve us, thereby depriving us of both discounts! Luckily, we found a very nice Indian dinner nearby, but the deceit and abuse stings to this day. We later checked and the claimed restaurant serving the mythical cooked breakfast had closed down, so the lie was conscious and intentional.
Listing and instructions could have been truthful.

It’s a very cute location, with the room being very nicely laid out.

The location is good and well connected—it's a 10-minute walk from the train station. It's a convenient area where you can find restaurants, pubs, and a supermarket.
There's a portable radiator, but it takes a while to warm up the room (there's no radiator in the bathroom). Breakfast should have been included (cold breakfast), but we didn't receive breakfast on the second day. The host mentioned issuing a partial refund via Booking.com but never finalized it.

No ennsuite, no toilet paper in shared bathroom

Very good location. Close to train station. Comfortable bed, nice ambience and good night sleep.
There is a problem with the drainage of the shower, the water simply stays there. At one point I had water seeping into the main room and it wetted my luggage. Suggest the owners to fix this issue.

I liked the bed, it was comfy 😌
I booked the hotel as "the breakfast was included." When I saw a breakfast, I was disappointed 😞It was full of simple carbohydrates with no chance to choose anything 😢I had to find a proper breakfast with my husband and kids. I didn't like the smell of mold and/or "old house."

Lovely quaint room in a beautiful building. Clean and well presented. Great central location. Had a question about accommodation whilst there and I was instantly responded to with a call from the friendly owner.

Location was perfect right in the centre and we had a great view from our room! Bed was comfortable and the staff were attentive and quick to answer questions.
Slight leaking from shared bathroom tap and the breakfast was just okay but all in all it was great value for money.

Cramped room, and tiny en-suite. Breakfast arrangements “different”. Stairs steep

Parking was easy to procure and free. Access was easy and quick. Very good location in town. Near cafes, restaurants, pubs, and laundromat.
Cottages offered basic accommodation and minimal service. Room was small - bed necessarily pushed up against one wall - and furniture was utilitarian with only one chair. 2-inch gap under door let in hall noise. Window gap made room drafty. No central heat that we could control. They provided a space heater. There was no maid service. Breakfast was to be in a restaurant but is currently under renovation so instead, they gave us a box containing a day-old pastry, a yogurt cup and a bottle of juice and did not provide a dining room in which to eat it. There was a Thai restaurant below the room, and the room smelled faintly of the food they served.

Historical and quirky but beautifully decorated.

Staff friendly, good location
Hot water heater above handbasin didn’t work. Shower didn’t drain properly. Cooked breakfast available from 9.00am but we had to leave earlier so we were offered a breakfast box - including a heavy croissant, not fresh; we made instant coffee from sachets in room.

The location is very central and a 4 minute walk to the station. Considering that it is on the high street and it was a Saturday night, it was very quiet. There is a good Thai restaurant at street level.
Breakfast is across the road at another restaurant which doesn't open till 9am. They do offer a breakfast box delivered to the room. Not easy to carry luggage up 2 floors on a steep narrow stair, but we did manage it.

It’s cool now old the building is, but it was still a very comfy place to stay. Owner was friendly and let us leave us bags even though we were very early. Also, dinner at the Thai restaurant below was great and breakfast at their Boneyard spot was also very good.

The guesthouse was in an excellent location and close to the train station. It was also close to the bus stops. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would go again.
There was a bit of a smell but. you got used to it. I assume there was nothing that could be done. There was no point for charging my electric brush.

Breakfast was at the Bonehouse an independent restaurant It was excellent
The easy chair was very stained The room was not very clean. It was very noisy The room below had the TV on all night

It was very well designed — artfully done, and had a rustic beauty to it, especially considering its 350 year history. The Thai restaurant downstairs was absolutely brilliant - generous and delicious food. So was the packed breakfast the day we checked out.
The single bed’s placement and very low door frame - although we were warned, it’s not something one remembers when exiting to use the toilet in the night.

Centrally located but quiet inn. Room was cozy, clean and comfortable. Staff were very responsive to advance communications on arranging check-in/check-out process and times. Great breakfast! Excellent value for money.

Siam Cottage featured an excellent Thai Restaurant with excellent service. Well located in walking distance to the train station / bus stop. Overall, an enjoyable stay with a shared bathroom.
Slight problem that it took us 50 minutes to wait for the owner to unlock the premises to allocate our room.

Ideal location in the middle of the street
Quite quirky that we had to go across the road for breakfast which by the way was excellent
Had dinner in the restaurant below our room very convenient which again was excellent
Didn’t realise that there was no en-suite bathroom but we probably didn’t read the small print

Great location, comfortable and clean and very convenient for the purpose of our stay, the breakfast at the local cafe was amazing 1 min walk and so was the Thai restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and helpful to the questions we had
We stayed during one of the hottest weekends, it was lovely to have a fridge and a fan in the room. If you like walking like me there were a few walking routes nearby, I will certainly be returning for another stay.

It was very clean and the staff made you feel so welcome . The breakfast could be a bit earlier than 9am but they did do us some breakfast boxes which were really good
There was not anything we had the loft room lots of stairs but a beautiful room

The woman at check in.
The terrible shared bathroom with a split staircase from the two rented rooms to get there. You had to go up one way to go to your room and from your room, go down the stairs several steps, then turn and go up another staircase to an awkward two door bathroom in a hallway. One door had a toilet only, then to wash your hands you had to go out into the hall and go into the other door (and hope no one was in there). In that room was the sink with no soap or towel and a bath tub/shower combo. So awkward. Then in the room they only gave you 4 very small tubes of soap and body wash. We asked at the local visitor's center if local accomodations were mostly shared bathrooms and they said absolutely not. they told us that the owners of this Siam Cottage were known to have a bad reputation. The visitor's center told us to call the health department on them. We lost our money on it because we went to another hotel in town.

Nothing. All great.

The breakfast provided at the restaurant across the street was delicious! However, the restaurant does not open until 9 a.m. The day we left we had to leave before breakfast.
The light in the bathroom is rather dim, and the shower is tiny. However, it all worked out.

Location was great. Good breakfast at the cafe across the road.
Room is very small and one side of the bed is against the wall. It is not a £150 per night hotel room. Also our shower smelt like bad drains which was almost unbearable. We got a partial refund which was much appreciated.
