Has potential but sadly not up to scratch for a ‘luxury penthouse’

We booked this property for a friend’s birthday because it was advertised as a “luxury penthouse,” but it was neither luxurious nor a penthouse in any sense. On arrival we genuinely thought we were at the wrong place based on the exterior alone. The entry code didn’t work, and we had to call the host for a new one just to get inside. As soon as we opened the door we were hit with a strong smell of cigarette smoke. The cleanliness was shocking — there was dirty washing left in the machine and an overflowing basket, broken glass on the floor, chipped tiles throughout, dirty rags on the sink, and even a toenail on the floor. Only two beds were made up despite five guests booked, and the spare linen in the wardrobe was stained. There were also only two mugs provided for five people. The TV couldn’t be used because there was no remote and no way to turn it on manually. We paid an extra £100 for the hot tub, which never heated up and was unusable the entire stay. We did contact the host, who was polite and offered a partial refund, but it wasn’t sufficient and none of the issues were resolved during our stay. Overall, this property was completely misrepresented, unhygienic, and very disappointing — especially as it was meant to be for a special celebration. We would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Disgusting, unclean and the property has not been looked after - 1*

The location was good as it wasnt far from the centre

the property was absolutely disgusting, we took food to cook there but didnt use any of the kitchen facilities, instead we ordered food and ate from the containers. the hot tub had scum in the water so the cleaner had to come back out to sort this, the towels were left in the dryer and were damp when we arrived. we also spotted silver fish on the floor, the shower door fell when my daughter went to have a shower. The electrics in the lounge are dangerous and the socket was hanging from the wall, the heating didnt work in the lounge so we had to use a small heater which didnt do a lot heating the room up. we text the owner regarding our issues but were ignored. We chose to stay here from the previous reviews but our stay was far from what was promised, would never return

Amazing

Absolutely wonderful place! We and my partner came for the time and honestly I was amazed, this property is super clean ! TVs can you Netflix , YouTube etc . There’s WiFi , this is very very spacious absolute massive bath 😍 as soon I came I fell in love we will definitely be returning , I can’t stress enough is was magical! Very easy getting in contact with host !! We loved it

The jacuzzi wasn't clean and never got hot, we wasn't giving instructions untill I asked, we should of been told how to heat the jacuzzi before hand. We paid extra money for rental and didnt even get to use it and im very disappointed 😔

Everything was really nice the owners were quick to reply! The jacuzzi was a plus in getting this penthouse! The beds were big and comfy, we had all the kitchen utensils to have food there, jacuzzi nice and warm for our arrival which my daughter got in as soon as possible! Parking right in front of the property, nice and secure place, big massive couch with just as big TV too! Few little shops and takeaway close by. We loved our stay there!

A few sockets by the bed weren't working, but we brought an extension so not an issue, and the shower water went cold a couple of times, but resolved too!

Great and spacious place, very clean and well situated to go to Villa Park (20 minutes by foot). The host is very helpful and communication was easy all along. Definitely recommend !

Just as we expected, beautiful!

The property is lovely, spacious and well decorated. The garden area is just as we imagined, brilliant for a small get together, again decorated very nicely.

Only thing was that the toilet upstairs is open plan, no privacy and some of the sockets were not working. This didn’t affect our stay, but just for some consideration :)

the place was very clean and was so sleek and modern, the hot tub was amazing and also had a nice feature of being bluetooth and the rooms were beautifully clean as well as the bathrooms in each room and we all enjoyed our stay!

the plugs in the upstairs room didn’t work but that was honestly the only issue but the property renters were quick to respond to any questions and wonders which was very helpful throughout the stay

Not a luxury property.

Great location for a city break in Birmingham. Good public transport link. Owner did respond positively when we complained. But this is not a quick fix. The property has the potential but falls woefully short at the moment.

Hot tub cold on arrival despite multiple requests. Hot tub not clean. Multiple advertised facilities not provided. Property mis represented as luxury. No dining table. No oven capable of cooking a meal for four people. Staining to many of the the walls in the property, requires redecorating. The beds did not have mattress protectors. No storage in downstairs bedroom had to keep clothes in suitcase. This is budget accommodation not what we paid for. If the property were accurately described and priced it would be a good place for a city break. Either change the description to fit the property or fix the property to match the description. No care or love goes into making the property welcoming to guests. We go on a long weekend away with our friends every year and this is by far the worst experience we have had. I could go on .......

Deep clean needed .

Place spacious idea for what we wanted it for .

Place filthy. Needs a good deep clean bed sheets all stained kitchen greasy, toilet stained not flushed when arrived No toilet paper . Downstairs shower dirty water came out when used it . Front porch door doesn't have a lock so didn't feel safe group of lady's staying. Bins overflowing so no place to put any rubbish .
