The Collingwood

It is the second time I’ve hired this place in the last three weeks which tells you what I think of it!

The hairdryer didn’t work.

Location, warmth! Well equipped and stocked. Superb shower room, plenty of electrical sockets think ic we’d have arrived either about 3 pm or later, around 7. - important detail these days! Comfortable bed and bedding, interesting lighting.

The absolutely only thing - and not your fault - I would warn people that arriving at rush hour (4 to 6pm I’d say) especially in dark is quite a challenge. There is nowhere to pull over and unload the car, and car park was full. Parked on a nearby street aided by friendly local. All was fine eventually, but it was a slightly nerve wracking half hour, which wouldn’t have happened if we’d have arrived either at 3 pm or after about 7 . I can see it’s tricky for you to explain all that!

Good central location and bedroom to the rear so extremely peaceful

No direct access to shared rear courtyard garden

The location was great. Loved the decor in living room.

The yard on the picture is not accessible directly from apartment.

Netflix didn't work on the tv. There was no toilet paper on arrival (kitchen roll).

​The Collingwood through Booking.com​ Gary and I rented your property for 3 weeks, vacating on 15th August. We travelled from Australia to have a holiday and meet up with family. When we arrived at the Collingwood and entered the lounge, the smell of dogs and in particular dogs urine was very strong. Once the heating came on the smell was worse. I mentioned to my husband that we would get some plug in air fresheners to rid the apartment of the smell. Having had such a long journey we decided to make ourselves a cup of tea, there was none, neither was there milk in the fridge. The open packet of ground coffee smelt like it had been there a long time, so we thought we'd better go out to the shops and gather some supplies. I decided to have a quick shower before we went and there was no shower gel or wash cloths, not even a sample bar of soap. Feeling exhausted we faced out to buy some basic essentials which we expected to have found in your apartment. During the holiday, I was handwashing some clothes as you do not have a washing machine in the property. You also did not have a clothes horse to hang any washing on and given there is no back door to the property, there were no facilities to dry any washing outdoors. The bed seemed exceptionally small length wise and was very uncomfortable. I went out to purchase a pillow because I couldn't sleep on the pillows. Also there appeared to be damp in the bedroom as there were damp marks on the ceiling and my husband was waking up with a sore throat and feeling stuffed up, until he got out into the fresh air. We have stayed in Air BnB's many times on our trips to the UK. The two Tynemouth apartments we have stayed in had a washing machine, dishwasher, a back door and offered a welcome pack of the basic essentials. Given we have paid a lot for this property, I was very disappointed that we could not enjoy our stay.

Great location, comfy and cosy! Perfect for a weekend away.

Access to the garden means going out the front door and round the side. Not a problem just be aware there's no back door.
