Hotel 1635

very much enjoyed the room upgradde. great locaton , easy walk to everywhere. the rooms are to be seen and enjoyed. part of a great overall expierence. Breakfast was just what you would hope for to start your busy day.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel 1635 and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to others! The welcome was incredibly warm: check-in involved a chat about the history of the building and things to do in the city over a cup of coffee. The hotel was well located for everything we wanted to see in Haarlem and a short walking distance from cafes, bars and brunch spots. As others have mentioned, the hotel is in a historic building that has its quirks - but you can tell the team have put a lot of thought into modernising it and making people comfortable while respecting the original architecture. A great example is the portable aircon unit in our room, which helped us survive the heat.

A very charming hotel that has been renovated very well, keeping the old charm and attention to details. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. Would love to come back.

We loved so much about this hotel -- the central location, the quaint historic feel, the amazing continental breakfasts prepared to order by our hosts. The spaces were all clean and the beds were super comfortable. But by far, the best thing was the hotel staff -- Lars, Jort, and Luisa -- who were amazingly friendly, gracious, and helpful. They made us feel like family members, interested to hear what we did every day and what we had planned next! And they had great recommendations for places to go and things to do.

It's nitpicking, but this is a historic building so there was no central air conditioning, though room fans were thoughtfully provided and adequate for sleeping. There was also a low beam in our room that I had to duck under slightly to get in and out of bed, and I did bump my head on it a few times, but it was not really a big deal.
