Comfortable stay in a quirky 3 level cottage close to town.
Quirky 3 level house, tucked away in a quiet area of Ludlow. Lovely log burner with plenty of wood. Comfortable beds, warm, Wifi, short walk to town.
Nothing.

Very small but cosy cottage
Location was quite good and the cottage had all the basic equipment a kitchen needs. There was a nice wood burner with an ample log supply plus firelighters and kindling wood. The downstairs was very cosy when the woodburner was on.
The cottage was supposed to accommodate four people having 2 double beds, one on each floor; it was cramped just for 2 people! There was only a single toilet for the whole cottage and this was on the top floor accessed by some hazardous steep stairs; I would not bring children here. Also, only a single small washbasin and shower on the floor beneath the toilet. The local contact lady never answered the phone, so thank goodness we had no real emergencies. Storm Babet did cause some minor water ingress, but we mopped up with a saucepan.

Great location, comfortable cottage for a couple, clean and helpful owner.
The location, clean, owner very helpful
For 4 people the property is small. The 2nd bedroom is on the 3rd storey and in warm weather very hot. There was a fan but parts were missing so could not be used. The stairs are very steep and for some people this maybe an issue. The front door is extremely hard to open and close due to sticking. The toilet works but the flush does not work well which is inconvenient with more than 2 people staying in the property.

Compact and quirky.
Good location, equipped like a home rather than a basic business self-catering property, with many useful extras such as a good selection of kitchen equipment, books, maps, games, radio and plenty of spare household materials, eg kitchen roll, loo roll, cleaning materials etc. The log fire would be excellent in cold weather but we had no need for it over a warm July weekend. We were very happy in the accommodation within the limitations above.
The mattress in the middle bedroom, the duvet in the top bedroom and some of the pillows have certainly seen much better days and are not what you would expect in an otherwise well-equipped property, despite its size limitations (it is very old and compact, steep stairs, toilet on the top floor, shower and basin on the floor below and some low ceilings). One stair carpet gripper is exposed and a wrecker of socks(!), and carpet moths have caused extensive damage on the ground floor. Although the kitchen bins were labelled, some instructions in the property on rubbish removal, food disposal and recycling would be helpful for those unfamiliar with the Shropshire system of coloured bins and a paper/cardboard blue bag. Entry instructions are not available until 48 hours before the stay despite phone numbers being provided on booking.com for contacting the owners. We needed to contact other family members before then and had to request earlier information via Sykes Cottages. Street parking outside is time-limited so be prepared to have a short walk from free parking streets.

terrible service with no protection to customers and lost money due to inconsiderate owners
booked this well in advance of a trip then the owners decided last minute (before a bank holiday weekend) that it was actually a minimum 3 nights when we’d booked for two, and we couldn’t extend so they cancelled on us. we were unable to find any suitable alternative accommodation so we lost considerable money on train tickets and it’s unacceptable that they did this with such short notice when we booked it with plenty of notice in advance. really awful treatment of guests and customers

we had a lovely week and would recommend the cottage.
it was quirky and the wood burner was lovely in a very cold week.
the mattress in the larger bedroom, the toilet on a different floor to the shower room.
