GRIFID Metropol Hotel - Premium All inclusive & Private Beach - Adults Only

Delicious food, the all inclusive menu a la carte was a great idea as you had fewer options but much better quality than the usual all inclusive buffet. Plus you did not had to cue for food, it was more of an exclusive restaurant atmosphere. The beach was great, private, adults only, incredibly quiet and civilised compared to nearby beaches. Plenty of sun beds, never had an issue to find one available. The beach has a nice little bar with very good service, bathroom and shower. NO MUSIC!! Very quiet and relaxing, you could easily sleep in the sun any time of the day. Lots of activities to do around in the hotel or other Grifid hotels, did not have enough time to try them all Adults only option is a DREAM, this hotel seems to attract mostly retired Germans and Scandinavians. It was a true blessing to spend a very relaxing vacation in the middle of August with no screaming kids and adults around you. Room was spacious, clean, you also have acces to 2 outdoor swimming pools which are pretty nice. Exceptional customer service, staff is mostly Indonesian and were very friendly, polite and always with a smile. Restaurant service was very quick.

The hotel is a bit outdated and in a very crammed area with very few parking spots. You need to have the right expectations when you arrive as I was a bit dissapointed initially, I thought it was more modern and luxurios. Then I found out it was actually the first adults only hotel in Bulgaria, from around 2013. The decor is a bit old and kitsch. It was hard to find parking space but we managed to park underground (a bit expensive though, around 15 euros per night). However the food, staff, beach and atmosphere compensated any of these issues and for sure I would go again. P.s I would try to rescue at least the Sky Bar:) The view is amazing during the day and it is a pity it is open just at night time when you cannot see anything. Also at least in the skybar you can try to change the decor a little to make it more modern. The drinks and service were great otherwise and we had a good time.

The staff were excellent. I would highlight in particular the guest relations manager, the F&B manager, all the Asian staff and also David and his mother

The room was disappointing. From the door there is the sitting space, then the bathroom then the bed. The order (from the door) should surely be the bathroom, then the bed then the living space. As it was, the living space was redundant - we only used it to store the luggage. Poor selection of wine in the all inclusive package - no choice other than colour and the provided wine was only a notch or two above 'entry level'. Regarding food, the salad bar was excellent; the hot food was generally quite good (fish sometimes overdone and dried out - easy with thin fillets) and the lasagna was only catering or school dinner quality. Although not the fault of the hotel, the resort was disappointing - the name of Golden Sands is well deserved, but the resort consists of 150 tightly packed hotels and shops generally selling the same range of low quality products - absolutely no local atmosphere.
