Palais Fes Yahya - Rooftop - Luxury Stay

The owners were very accommodating, they offered to upgrade our room without us asking. Amine had offered us a map so we can visit as many popular spots in Fes, and he came across as a genuine guy. He also came over to my car to make sure I'm parked in the right spot and offered to help with carrying our luggage.

We really enjoyed our stay.

This is an amazing place with one caveat. When staying here you really get a feel for what it must have felt like to live in a well off place 400 years ago. Mostly because of the building itself which is old and beautiful, but also because it is a family business and it feels like a home. The mother cooks the meals (that are as good as tagine gets) and the boys do the waiting. This is unique and amazing.

So, the caveat, the boys are a bit disorganised and service can be slow/inaccurate.

Everything was clean and the staff very attentive. The location was also good and the inside of the building was beautiful.

The room was right next to the space where you could have breakfast/ dinner, with only one door separating the two. Overall it was fine, the staff was very quiet, but in one of the nights there were some guests who had dinner til a bit later and we couldn't go to sleep until they left.

The family who run the hotel are really friendly. They always said hello and offered us tea when we came back so it felt very welcoming. The location is great and it is beautifully decorated.

Sadly the room was disappointing as it was right next to the downstairs restaurant space and front door. This lead to multiple issues and disrupted sleep: -The room did not feel private with people right outside the room door most the time -It was really noisy until around 11pm with people chatting and eating in the restaurant -Multiple times people attempted to get into our room thinking it was a bathroom -Both nights people banged on the front door late at night to be let back in as the front door was locked -Multiple times the lights were switched on and not turned off in the restaurant area in middle of the night so we had to get up and turn them off as the light leaked into the windows in our room -One night someone checked in at 1:30am and there was no effort to speak quietly Unfortunately, this meant it wasn't a relaxing stay for us and ruined what otherwise would have been a lovely stay. The owners did apologise multiple times and although we read the reviews saying it can be loud we hadn't anticipated it being this bad.
